Malta, Country of history and.. food! In this Malta vlog 2021 I created a food guide for trying traditional maltese street food, in case you were wondering what to eat in Malta. In La Valletta, a beautiful Malta city, I tried one of my favourite malta street food, Qassatat, but also a traditional malta cheese and sausage platter. In Rabat, another Malta city close to Mdina, I had the famous pastizzi, a savoury pastry filled with chicken. In this food tour I also tried some sweets at a traditional malta food market in Marsakloxx and then obviously the ftira in Mellieha!

Lived in Malta as a refugee 6 years ago before resettling to the US. Malta is beautiful and the people are down to earth. I always love eating outside , specially buying pizza at the kiosk!

Thank you for making the video I always get emotional because I moved to the UK and I always miss my Maltese nanna and other family members the video makes me sad because I always miss when I used to go to the beach then after we went to this donut guy screaming “DONUTS COME GET YOUR DONUTS!!” Sometimes we got Whippy gelato that always gave me an upset stomach but I love the taste! Even ftira is so good I remember at my school my dad always made me Maltese bread and olives with kunserva with salami! At the beach I always love swimming in the ocean blue water then after feeling the sand on my feet! Everywhere I went everyone remembered me when I was a little kid and they always greeted me in the nicest way and this amazing lady in birżebugga who always gave me free food when I was a tiny girl!❤

You have to try food from different towns and villages. Since there are a lot of individually owned bakeries here and there. They all work different and produce similar things differently. You have to go to Gozo to try the different kind of local cheeses and fresh zalzett(sausage). Even in Gozo which is much smaller than Malta food is different from town to town.😋😋

Hi my parents were from Malta and met in the US. I was born in Michigan. I've never been to Malta. I grew up on maltese food. I love the pastizzi. I haven't had any in so long. My grandma abd aunts used to make them but they've passed away. I wish I can get some from Malta and have them sent to me. I've been craving them so much!!!! Frances

That gbejniet is sooo strong. I can only eat it on small amounts It's basically aged goat cheese in olive oil and spices for I think 2yr or more. It's fragrant! 👌 but delicious

Hey Dan you definitely need to try Imqaret, the best are Imqaret tal-belt. Also there is Bragioli, Bigilla, spaghetti with Rabit, Figolli during easter, and also Kinnie a traditional Maltese drink.

You might want to try ħelwa ta tork as well. During easter/carnival time usually you can find prinjolata, perlini, kwareżimal and figolli - all of these are sweet food.

when i was in Malta a few weeks ago, i keep smelling this sweet scent used by men in Valletta. It smelled like citrus and floral, with some hints of musk and leather. most men used this, not sure if it is an aftershave or a perfume. does anyone know what it is?

Pastizzi okay Qassatat okay Instead of a cannolo which is obviously not Maltese and instead of that chocolate thing which is very anonymous as a dessert, you should try the kwaresimal (really nice and really maltese) The blue cheese in the video is gorgonzola, I know the place. It's a really good gorgonzola, obviously italian. The "jam" is a chutney. The soft cheese is a sort of brie. The only local cheese on that platter is the gnejna, which no, it's not at all a ricotta (Imo it tastes better than ricotta )

I'm pretty sure the video author is not fully aware about prices on pastizzi😂 Standard ones, with ricotta or peas should cost 30-max max 45 cents, 50 cents on a chicken one is fine though. But 1 euro is crazy.

I agree with you in the sense that normally it would cost 45 cents but when I was on holiday in Malta, a pastizzi bought in St Julian for example would often cost 1 euro.. I think these are kind of "tourist season" prizes... when i got out of the big holiday places I found much cheaper and more authentic ones!

If you go to Rabat do not go to where he recommended for pastizzi go to where the locals go which is a yea shop/pastizzi qassatat shop a traditional pastizzi is just ricotta when there is meat and peas it’s called qassatat not pastizzi . I forget the name of the tea shop but it’s right before the church in Rabat
