I'm a longtime Gara enjoyer and this is a good overview of what goes in to building her! There's a few things I would add. First, in addition to +elemental damage, +slash and +puncture work as well but only on the hold and tap versions of the ability respectively (can be useful if you get a riven with big +slash for example, just remember to use the right version of the ability). Arcane blade charger is a bigger melee damage buff (300%) and is worth considering, especially if you're set up to get primary kills to charge ceramic dagger's base combo. Lastly, the damage buff from eclipse, though much reduced from its glory days, applies directly to your melee and thus boosts the stacking splinter storm damage in a way that roar doesn't, so for people interested in that playstyle I think it's a solid choice.

I'm a Gara main since release I really enjoyed your video and your explanations, in term of building her as a nuke that is pretty spot on! in fact I do have the same exact build for nuking, Gara can be flexible on what you want to build her for, On longer missions you can go with melee crescendo arcane with Vazarin operator skill or mag pull to group enemies to preform aoe ground finisher to reach permanent 12 combo count for the rest of the mission and enjoy stronger aoe and 200k+ stack on splinter storm per cast, you would say it is hard to do ground finisher because your (2) splinter storm will kill them but actually it wont start damaging them until pull animation ends so you can preform finisher even if splinter storm stacked to millions, in general I like building Gara as a caster frame going for range and duration for everyday parkour mission (hybrid nuke+splinter storm) I prefer sentinel companion because you can apply splinter storm on them which effectively means double splinter storm damage and they don't run around losing their buff, plus it makes them more durable to mod more offensive bond mods, I like to use comfy builds, set up and forget, so I tend shy away from incarnon weps for convenience and fashion reasons so any melee wep can work as long as it have high riven disposition, there are plenty that are cheap option for those who want to try Gara's playstyle, if you do like her go above and beyond like this video and many more playstyles, sorry for writing long essay I guess you can tell I like this frame ^_^

yeh I probably would have made one for Baruuk before he caught a stray while DE was attempting to nerf the infinite combo Tandem Bond bug...now his old tech of stacking 12x combo on a stat stick for gladiator stacks no longer works, and I sort of lost all enthusiasm for him as a result lol. was kinda hoping DE would fix his combo counter mechanics first, but I might be holding my breath for a while there...

Modding your stat stick for cc and cd works and will significantly boost your damage, but it will only work with incarnon crit evolutions. But since you have that base crit w/ ceramic dagger, i would recommend using blood rush/sacrificial steel, organ shatter, and gladiator might if you can fit it on the build

it works for shattered lash direct hits, not mass vitrify explosions. we're focusing on amping the vitrify explosions (and indeed, shattered lash cannot crit a vitrify wall) so crit stats are not helpful.

Solid build. You could also mod for crit if you run Arcane Avenger, since it’ll take the crit chance from 0% to 45% when it procs. You’d have to mod for Crit damage since Lash has a 1x multiplier, but I find it does fairly well

@@vincentprajogo8677 The damage added to Splinter Storm is 50% of the shatter’s damage, which is is 800 true damage plus the damage of Shattered Lash. So if you run crit, you’ll stack Splinter Storm faster, meaning Shattered Storm will do more damage and ramp faster

Thanks for the video. Always thought the Magistar was the superior stat stick for most characters, but I never actually looked at the numbers. I guess initial combo is pretty strong all on its own.

it depends on what you're trying to do. Magistar is usually better when crit stats matter, but Gara has very little use for crit stats, as the 4 explosion cannot crit.

Yep Magistar's main synergy is that pseudo-exalteds benefit from Magus Aggress without consuming stacks, so if you don't need the crit damage boost other options are just as viable.

What if you put Combat discipline in aura + arcane Avenger and Fury? I tend to use her 1st (the sweep one) to clear small groups of enemies and save on energy.

avenger doesn't really help, her 4 can't crit and while her 1 can it has a CD of 1x so without crit dmg that doesn't help either. you could also add CD but that's a lot of build-around just for a very niche use case

relatively new player here, but watching this i feel confused. never played gara or sevagoth yet, but doesn't the seva vid you did before look easier/faster and more convenient with just 2 abilities to nuke? while gara has to hold 4 and use 3 skills. is the advantage here that gara deals more damage and longer range?

the cast loop is faster/easier on sev, sure, but yea the reason Gara will generally still outperform sev is the massive area it covers, without needing LoS. try both out on a Defense mission and see who can clean up sooner; it'll be Gara every time.

ON that riven disposition, the fucking torid, THE FUCKING TORID has a riven dispo of 1.30. This is nearly the maximum amount of riven disposition anything can possibly have, and it's on the weapon that can easily orange crit without rivens

I'm testing out these kinds of builds and I gotta say, very underwhelming if you dont cough up some p's for a riven. And so far, I've already invested in upgrading the ceramic dagger, the melee arcanes and archon shards and so far, it is not worth it. maybe im missing something?

I mean you aren’t wrong tbh I went all out bought a riven for ceramic dagger grabbed r5 crescendo formad her and the dagger slotted shards and I mean the damage is goofy but it feels like all gara does is die in harder content? She feels niche and too slow paced for anything that isn’t survival or defense honestly I wouldn’t suggest anyone to do this unless they are super bored and just want something that’s fun for 5 minutes to do.

For the stat stick if i dont have a riven, can i replace it with covert lethality ? Also is it better to have spoiled strike or 120% slash/ puncture mods in there as a replacement?

yea covert lethality is generally the next pick. you can replace with either the last elemental mod or a 120% punc/slash mod, from my testing sans-riven I get dmg #s of 7828 with nothing on, 8882 w/ covert, 8687 with a +90% and 8973 with a +120%. if you were already using a +120%, then covert lethality is the play (because it's either that or another +90%), otherwise it's a pick between slightly improved damage at the cost of being forced to use either tap or hold specifically. as for SS vs +120%, SS is better. even with my over +200% melee damage riven and my incarnon form activated (another +100%), I get #s of 18,304 with SS and 17,928 with a +120% instead. without all my extra +melee damage% it would be even more in the favor of SS.

it does benefit Shattered Lash, but not the Mass Vitrify explosion. lash can't crit a vitrify wall and vitrify itself can't crit, so crit doesn't really do anything on a nuke build.

I'd rather they delete stat-sticks. Make pseudo-exalts either true exalted skills or make them proper normal skills. Before anybody gets their knickers too much in a twist; this would also entail reworking the mods allowed on all exalted weapons and revisiting old skills. Ensure proper scaling for exalted weapons or skills from the relevant stat on the Warframe itself. Remove the restrictions on exalted weapon modding. Rebalance the stats. There is no reason to hold back too far on these skills. Saryn still exists and DE doesn't consider it a problem. The damage when using a stat-stick exists and DE doesn't consider it a problem. So why keep the weird and broken system? Just dump the stat-stick, make the skills do proper damage and get rid of the faff.

How does Gara work if you don't pay any specific mind to the stat stick and just use whatever? I hate the idea of stat sticks, so I always make all my builds to function in a void and any interactions between weapons and frames are more of a bonus.

well basically, if you don't use a stat stick, all your abilities will deal way less damage. Both 4 and 3 scale off 1, which in turn scales off your melee's relevant mods + incarnon stuff. most melee mods/arcanes literally don't do anything here (only +Dmg%, +Elem%, and +Initial Combo help), so not using a stat stick is like using a weapon with several empty mod slots. it sort of obviously won't do nearly as well as a weapon that actually uses all the slots. you can still do fine without one at low levels or just opt to play her as a defensive support, as her defensive tools and debuffs all always work in full. but you're definitely leaving a lot of power on the table by opting out.

It seems to me like a regular melee weapon build should add enough to stack damage for base level Steel Path, and frankly that's enough for me. Stat sticks are an annoying and unintuitive legacy system that needs to go away, there's a reason new frames don't use it or have an exalted weapon of their own.

Are we sure that base damage, elemental damage, and initial combo are the only things that affect Shattered Lash? the wiki states that crit chance mods are able to affect it lie Sacrificial Steel, Blood Rush and Arcane Avenger.

Shattered Lash can crit, yes. Mass Vitrify cannot, however.

@@Malurth Yes, but Vitrify takes the damage caused by Shattered Lash and distributes it, so does it not stand to reason that if through the Ceramic dagger giving it a crit chance, and then buffing that crit chance further with Sacrificial Steel and Blood Rush causing it to have a crit chance over 100%, wouldnt that then get thrown into Vitrify through the Lash? Its less about Vitrify causing crits, but Lash causing them and then the Vitrify explosion using that crit damage.
