Now, usually I am vehemently against pets as presents, but I feel like in this case it is perfectly fitting. After all, she wanted Pumpkin so very much, and the real present was her parents accepting a second dog in the house. Such a cute pup. A great singer, too!

And the parents "gifting" the dog to their daughter...she is a capable young lady who is actually able to know what is needed to appropriately care for her "present", this is a correct scenario for an animal as a present. When parents give an animal to a kid 5 or 7, or a younger age where the focus of proper care and commitment is not truly a concept necessarily to the child yet (always exceptions), and the parents aren't really interested in giving proper care to the animal then...this is the problematic scenario!

Yeah in 90% of cases a pet as a present is a terrible, horrible idea. In the other 10% cases it's more of a "hey you wanted this particular pet and thought about it a lot, so as a gift we did all the procedure to get this pet to you" situation (Those stats are random by the way of course).

Hi! I’m Pumpkin’s human, Jackie!! I actually have been working with dogs since I was 17 and am a groomer so that’s one of the main reasons I was able to get her! I agree though, pets shouldn’t be gifts unless it’s been discussed and the owner is responsible. Thanks for caring about her!! 💕

@@robertawills7219 rescue facilities are extremely rare in Scandinavia, as we have very little animal welfare issues and abandoned dogs. The ones that do exists don't allow random volunteers to interact with the animals unmonitored. He's from Norway I think, hence my response, I'm in Sweden next door.

She reminds me exactly of my pitty. Same noises, same size, loves people, too. Loves food of almost any kind. I got her from the shelter where I volunteered & she's been the best foster sister to about 10 dogs & big sister to 2 little dogs I rescued. Pitties are the best!

What makes you think real breeds are available at the shelter? Mixed dogs with no breed are available at the shelter. No ones dumping breeds at the shelter. Mislabeling every mixed dog a pitbull is how the real pitbull got its bad reputation
