Don't sound like country to me. Why is there a thumping EDM beat that's almost as loud as the vocals. And that four-on-the-floor type beat is more associated with Disco or House music than country. Why is she doing excessive vocal runs on every single word? There is nothing worse than a singer who does this. It's not a singing contest. We get it. You can sing. Problem is, it doesn't sound good. And sure don't sound like country. You should try singing in a way that serves the song rather than your ego. Country is relatively simple, straightforward music made for & by simple folks. Not dumb, but simple. What hooks the listener is the amazing storytelling & emotion conveyed with minimal flair. And tradition. That's why it's important to at least consider "would Hank have done it this way?" The answer's no. Hank would be rolling in his grave right about now. The problem is that all the emotion and storytelling gets lost in the confusion with a singer like this who insists on showing off. I can barely make out the lyrics because her singing is so overkill. Go do pop music or tryout for the Voice on TV. I'm sure they'd love you. For example, in the opening line of "Mama Tried" Merle Haggard condenses years worth of heartache & trouble, and that's just the first line. You can hear the pain & regret without him having to do an annoying vocal run like Christina Aguilera. Nashville is so greedy and intellectual bankrupt that instead of putting out relatively simple but great music like they used to, nowadays they just chase the latest trend. Like excessive vocalists, pounding hip-hop/EDM beats, rapping, etc. They just throw a southern accent & a cowboy hat in the mix and call it country. Or a pedal steel. As long as it has pedal steel in the background, it's country according to greedy Nashville executives. Hank would be rolling in his grave. I don't know know much, but I do know one thing. This ain't country. And neither is this. Go back and listen to the classics. Loretta Lynne, Patsy Cline, Tammy Winnette. Tell me if you hear them doing any self indulgent vocal runs or playing to a deafening EDM beat. Mainstream country these days is just rap that's marketed towards white consumers who otherwise wouldn't listen to hip hop. They'd listen to nails on a chalkboard as long as you call it Country and throw some pedal steel in the background. This ain't country. It's EDM. Hank wouldn't have done it this way. That's for darn sure.

I hope you feel better after dumping a rant that is not only pointless and stupid, but also mean and uncalled for. Bottom line, she's performing up there and you're not. When you get invited to sing and play guitar there, you can do it your way.
