mama Peanut nurses kits outside of their nest (portraits)

7.27.2023. It's a hot summer day and Peanut is getting ready to nurse so I give her a couple fruit treats, apple slice and our yard's first ripe blackberries, to help her have energy for the little ones. Peanut cautiously leaps into the nesting area and looks for her babies. But they're not in their nest! After a few minutes of searching the small picnic table area, she finds them and they come out and nurse. So besides providing shade and cover, the little playground picnic table also keeps the kits corralled inside. The perfect nursery!
