"Mama, You Been on My Mind" is a song by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. Written in 1964 during a trip to Europe, the song dealt with his recent breakup with his girlfriend, Suze Rotolo. Dylan first recorded the song in June of that year during a session for his album Another Side of Bob Dylan. However, the song was not included on the album, and Dylan's version remained unreleased until 1991. In total, in the 1990s and 2000s four versions were put out on Dylan's Bootleg Series of releases, including two live performances with Joan Baez from 1964 and 1975.
Many artists have covered the song, including Baez, Jeff Buckley, Judy Collins, Ricky Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Harrison, Bettye LaVette, Dion and the Belmonts, Linda Ronstadt, and Rod Stewart on his 1972 album Never a Dull Moment. Dylan himself has performed the song more than 200 times. On 9 January 1969, The Beatles (primarily George) jammed the song during their Get Back / Let It Be recording sessions as can be seen in "Get Back, Part 1" directed by Peter Jackson. Harrison later recorded the song for his album, Living In The Material World.

I'm so glad I found your channel....I love the same music....I've been a fingerpicker for 30 years or so....been playing for 50.....the last thing I did was host an open mic until I had to stop 5 years ago due to health issues so I just play at home and my ear has become very unreliable.....I can still play the stuff but have a hard time deciphering things.....thank you for that! Yoooo when you started talking I did not see that coming. There's a few elements of this version that I'm not a fan of, but overall I think it's excellent and is a beautiful guitar arrangement of the piano version I've heard (apologies if it is in fact your structuring, but I really think it has to end with "someone who has had you on their mind" - and if I'm moaning at George Harrison's arrangement then I'm really sorry George but I think Bob beats you on this one).
