I have seven kiddos and couldn’t get out to shop so I am just doing a family basket and am putting in what I could order online. So the stuff for them to share...basketball, soccer ball, a couple of slinky’s, a couple of those needoh things, a couple jump ropes, a Chinese jump rope, and some chocolate of course! I am also making a dinner that they all requested..ham, potato salad, asparagus, homemade rolls and homemade chocolate pudding w/whipped cream. ~Janelle

Richard Austin I LOVED playing Chinese jump rope in grade school. Since we had no other kids in our household at home, besides me, I used to put an elastic rubber band (I tied some of my mom’s sewing elastic into a loop), and placed it around the legs of 2 of our kitchen dinette chairs, and would jump for LITERALLY HOURS(!) practicing by myself each night.

I didn’t get baskets when I was a kid because...apparently it takes away from the true meaning of Easter...aka it required effort and some money. Lol. As an adult I realize kids know the meaning of Easter AND can get a fun basket. Love the baskets 🧺 🥚 🐣 🐰

When I was a kid back in the 60s, lol we got a basket of candy, big chocolate bunny, a dress and one toy. When my kids were growing up I went overboard. I would fill wagons with all kinds of stuff and they got bikes. I didn't spend a ton of money though. Now I go overboard on my grandchildren, I love Easter. And they do know the true meaning of Easter. You did a great job.

I didn't grow up with Easter baskets and egg hunts. The fancy Easter dress, white shoes, bag and hat for church were the biggest deal for us. My brother got a little suit. These days my church is casual so I dressed my girls up when they were little but there was never any pressure so my kids don't care about that. As a kid, we colored eggs in school but it was never a thing at home. Easter dinner was a bigger deal and my mom really put a lot into it. As a kid, I really looked forward to it. That is what I do for my family and we are really looking forward to it. I really enjoyed watching your video about your baskets though. Thank you for sharing!

I agree you don’t need to make it Christmas 2.0! Growing up we had a bunny, jellybeans, and some chocolates. I did get an Easter dress every year but that was from my grandparents. We also as a family got a Disney VHS and a bored game as a family!

Very fun baskets!! I agree, when I was younger going back to the 80’s... we just got candy and we were super excited for Cadbury eggs and peeps.. if anything else, maybe a kite. Now it’s like Christmas it seems. Trying to keep it fun without going overboard.. we added some card games like Go fish, bubbles, crafts, and a lol egg and then the candy or treats they like.. one of my daughters loves Oreos and she only gets them for holidays. Love the bike accessories, super cute!

Easter was a big affair for us growing up. Sunday service, big family meal, easter egg hunt and Easter bunny presents. My dad would get us a big present and a few little presents. It was basically like hide and seek with presents. So fun! I've enjoyed sharing these holiday traditions with my girls. I'm hoping we can squeak out one more year of "magic" for my 11 year old before she's onto me.

Hey Kim! I grew up in a different era. When I was a young girl 50+ years ago, my Mom would make chocolate peanut butter eggs and sometimes coconut eggs to put out for the family. There were six of us kids. I remember we each got a basket with one chocolate bunny (store bought) and some jellybeans. And a couple different times I remember getting a little gift, one being a Bible, and one a Ten Commandments bracelet. We usually got new Easter outfits for church. We had colored hardboiled eggs too. Mom & Dad made it fun. They hid the baskets and the eggs around the house and we had fun hunting for them. These are the memories I recall. Thank you for sharing your tradition.

I put a spring dress, little boxes of raisins , the baby goldfish, and snack size ind wrapped fig newton's in her basket..also got some Gerber yogurt melts. I thought the same thing about other Easter baskets videos, that it is Christmas 2.0. My daughter got a little extra because it was quarantine preschool stuff that I was giving her anyway. She’s 3 and she got chalk, bubbles, a book, one little toy, a frozen nightie, a small art set thing from dollar tree, and a dry erase board to practice letters. The only candy is in eggs which there are only 10 and I hid them around the apartment for an activity. Love from Tampa!

I love your channel, I so enjoy your videos and am obsessed with “Easter Basketry”, so think you for posting! Easter really is “Christmas 2.0” for my family. I think it is a cultural thing, somewhat. I was raised by bohemians, and our Easter baskets were pretty simple, real hard boiled eggs that we had decorated, maybe a few jelly beans and a possible rubber bunny from the dollar store, nestled in a basket of real grass clippings . My grandmother always shipped my brother and I a chocolate bunny, which was the star of the show. But, my mother always spoke fondly of her childhood Easters (She was raised going to Black, Baptist Churches) and how they always received a new church outfit, complete with a “Easter coat”, dress (or suit for her brothers) and shoes as well as baskets of candy. I thought that sounded cool. And then, I grew up and married a W.A.S.P, an Episcopalian, for whose family I learned that Easter is a BIG DEAL, more spiritually significant than Christmas and Insuspect it gets an extra edge because there is nothing Preps love more than pastels and the promise of oncoming summer. Anyway, that’s my novel on the subject. I have a video on what’s in my kid’s baskets this year, I would be honored for you to watch! m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/f17FholvnZmHfas

When I was a kid...well backing up my birthday is always around Easter. My Bunny would hide our baskets and left a trail from our rooms. We got candy and small toys. Nothing big. Mostly candy. My kids are teens now. They're getting a small assortment of treats (past wanting toys). Like most holidays, traditions are what we find fun (even teens still like it). I've always made a trail of small chocolate eggs they have to follow to find their baskets and we hunt for plastic eggs filled with small treats. We colour eggs on Good Friday and display them all Easter weekend. I'm not a fan of anything but dark chocolate but those Cadbury mini eggs are pretty addictive lol. I sometimes make cupcakes and make a nest on top with icing filled with a few of those - festive and yum. I always got a basket with one chocolate bunny and some treats and maybe one non food item. My mom started the egg trail tradition that I continued.

As a kid we got a basket with candy and a toy. Dad may have put in some money as we got older. Our candy was cadbury eggs or caramel eggs, cadbury mini eggs, reeses eggs, egg whoppers, usually a type of egg gum. We had a small basket when little kids, went to a bigger basket when older kids, and back to the baby basket in late teens and adults. Yep folks still make us baskets. Though now its mostly 1 or 2 each of the above mentioned candies. I don't have kids but I make 1 for my niece who is about to be 3. This yr was a wind up olaf, 3 diff colors of a play dough that doesn't dry out and utensils for play dough. It was a little over 5 for all of it.

We never got candy in our Easter baskets growing up! We would get something we really needed, like a trash can for our bedroom, and then we got a dressy outfit and a casual outfit. That was it. We also didn’t have stockings growing up and when my husband and I started dating, he couldn’t believe that I thought stockings were just part of the Christmas decor. 😆 My mom was a hippy so she didn’t believe in giving us candy (or sugary cereals, drinks, or anything else. If we had dessert it was because she made something like baklava from scratch- all while working full time with lupus😦). She really was, and still is, superwoman. ❤️

I love watching this channel for the moms commentary, my husband even asked to watch a video of the mom cooking because she's funny and carefree with her cooking! Lol Edit: Just found out by reading the comments that her name is Kim. HI KIM!!!

Growing up we also had huge Easter baskets. Mostly filled with toys and such that lasted a few days. My kids (ages 2 and 6) will be getting mostly stuff from the dollar tree and Walgreens this year. Tons of toys that will end up in the trash in a few days, outside stuff (such as chalk and bubbles) we got each of them a “nicer” toy- my oldest got a Barbie and Barbie clothes and we got our youngest about 10 hot wheels (he already has 200+ from Christmas 😅) and of course a handful of candy for each.

I was born in 1980 - one of six kids. We got a handful of jelly beans, a Cadbury Cream egg, a chocolate bunny and three peeps. AND my mom opened the packages of Peeps the night before to split them up between our baskets, so they were already dried out and hard by the morning. 🤦♀️ 😆 (Still ate them because I was a kid that loved all things sugar) No toys. But it still felt magical waking up to look for my basket and I have so many happy Easter memories from my childhood. Proof that it’s not all about the “gifts.” 👍 😊
