Completely agree, Mike! Thank you, Jennifer. Since getting into learning about finances in the summer we’ve now paid off our 3 small loans and are debt free apart from the mortgage. We’ve now set up a standing order to overpay the mortgage each month by 100%, I love seeing how overpaying will affect the length! We’re also now saving and have an emergency fund, investing and investing for our children each month all because of your channel and others’. Thank you for all your hard work, you’ve changed our lives!

When my husband and I first met we both had consumer debt from previous relationships and we managed to clear £12,500 in the year before we got married. It was really tough and we both had two jobs but we had no children at the time and lived rent free so it made things easier but it still meant selling a car, living on jacket potato and buying nothing for the whole year but we managed it between us. We both looked at our debt as a joint venture and it was never looked at in terms of ‘your’ debt and ‘my’ debt it was just ‘the debt’

As a fellow Scotsperson (Aberdeen) , I just want to say thank you for being honest about your mental health difficulty. Despite a successful and lucrative career in the oil industry, I was diagnosed with depression. This came totally out of the blue for me and at first I thought the doctor was bonkers.... I was at the peak of my professional career and had never earned so much? Then I began to study and research the subject and began to understand that I wasn't going mad after all, in fact I was much more 'normal' than I realised. Congratulations on a very informative and calmly presented channel that does not reply on 'hype and fantastic claims'. It is very refreshing to find a presenter with their feet on the ground. And thanks once again for bringing the often hidden and taboo subject of mental health into the open - we all have to realise that it is part of life and the more we share and converse about it, the easier it will be for those that are experiencing difficulties to reach out and get the helping hand we all need sometimes. Carry on with the great advice - Cheers

Thank you Ron for that message - this is where I hope my channel can reach people who are perhaps struggling and show that there is hope at the other side. Sometimes we just need someone to give us a hand on our way but we always figure it out. To your financial and life success ahead!

I started investing during the crash last March. You were one of the first people I would follow. I haven't watched one of your videos for a few months (although I've recommended you to friends who are recently beginning to invest). I never knew you had mental health issues - you always seem so settled and that your head is screwed on and you have everything in place. I am very surprised, but I like you even more now! You're also very likeable. Thank you for being so real and transparent: showing your portfolio and more importantly: opening up about your issues. Believe me - a lot of us have struggled during Lockdown. Big up yourself! Nuff respect, from a random guy of similar age in London

23:58 - So many people get this wrong, you are absolutely right to NOT be constantly checking your accounts. Most people sell low, buy high purely because their mindset gets in the way. Don't watch your investments. Imagine they are expenditures and don't expect to get your money back. Also Warren Buffet says imagine you could only make 10 investments in your lifetime, you would be very careful as to what you pick and have the long term mentality he has. Great video!

I started investing in vanguard in May of 2019 thanks to you and your videos best decision I ever made. I'm well aware that investments go down as I've seen it this year go down to -23% more or less and it was quite scary but like you said yourself you only lose money when you cash out. I left it there and now i'm looking at +33.21% which is absolutely bonkers. Thanks again for all the information you put out there hope you and your family are well and safe during these troubling times.

Great video. I've been saving in moneybox for a few years to get started saving. It's in -% at the moment (went for SR maybe too early as it's still a little unstable using those portfolios on there) but I know if I'll leave it I'll improve. My safest additional saving option at the moment I think to get my first property is a LISA now. I've been practicing with etoro with the virtual account. Although I'm green on that I know additional costs or purchases can be riskier so might just put a few hundred in for a year and see how it goes. Yours is one of the sites that has helped some more sensible saving ideas, particularly as many of us from more working backgrounds are often only shown what the bank we got at 18 has to offer (which at the moment is pretty terrible saving options in most cases). Different levels of savers can look at these vids and improve an element in some way. I've not saved loads, but at least have doubled the amount going into savings in the past year which is a healthy start. I hope younger folk get taught this at school/college really as it can really help as a safety net for anyone really. Have you approached any ideas relating to teaching younger people how to save? What would you tell your 18 year old self in order to get them to be more responsible (and how would you help them to actually listen to the advice!). Thanks!

Great to hear that you are planning on trying to move your money into socially responsible investments. Nutmegs socially responsible funds have outperformed the general managed funds. Something to consider as it works similar to vanguard in that you don't have to manage anything. Just set up a regular payment and forget about it!

You should always check your work pension regularly to make sure your payments are going in. Was made redundant a couple of years ago, decided to check my pension and payments hadn't gone in for the previous 18 months. Pensions regulator not interested. Action fraud not interested. Got the money eventually but wish I had been on top of it.

Hi, hope you had a super Christmas - thanks for sharing your portfolio! Just working through your videos on pensions, if I understand correctly, for your current employer, if you want the benefit of their contribution you usually have to stick with their choice of scheme. For existing pots from ex employers, you can transfer those into a private pension for example using Pension Bee and then start contributing to that larger fund. I guess as you leave employers you can then just continue to add that to your larger private pot? Thanks! :)
@Moham1534 жыл бұрын
Exactly, that's how I've done it too. With your current employer you'll have to stay with the platform they choose, but you do have the option to log in and change the fund it's invested in. They usually auto select a super low risk fund for you, which don't tend to grow very much, so is worth looking into the other options they offer, maybe a global equity fund or something like that :)
@doongag88974 жыл бұрын
Transaction fees using limit orders are much lower in coinbase pro compared to market orders. Coinbase's market orders incur higher fees. Transfer of both cash and cypto is also instant and easy. Worth checking out if you haven't already done so. Your etoro reviews make me want to have a go at it. RR, CINE and AML were dirt cheap with proportional risk at some points over the summer. That 150%+ looks real nice on cine :)
