Hey friends! I made this bath mat by purchasing an inexpensive clothesline for $4.88! I used scrap yarn as well. It’s a beginner friendly crochet project and is fun no matter what your skill level. The entire rug is made with single crochet stitches. I hope you enjoy it! XO Jessica

(Disclaimer that I have yet to try this with crocheting around clothesline and that might change things, I'm about to give that a go now, but I crochet in the round a lot for other projects.) For anyone that might happen to come across this, there is a way to math out the increases when going in a spiral if that makes you more comfortable. If you start with six stitches before looping the rope, you want six increases in every round. Example: R1: 6sc R2: inc in each sc (12) R3: sc, inc around (18) R3: 2 sc, inc in next sc (24) R4: 3 sc, inc in next sc (30) R5: 4 sc, inc in next sc (36) And so on, with one more sc added to between your increases in each new round. If you want it to cup up like a basket, then stop doing increases and just do sc around to the height of the basket.

The best way I have found to figure out where to put increases, is to put an increase in each increase from the row before.

Hi. I have got off to a good start but I don’t know how to finish the back where a piece of rope is hanging out. Should I cut the end off and carefully neaten the end? Perhaps glue it into place or hand sew it into place? Do you gave a tutorial to show how this would be done? I am making a rug for my grandson and your tutorial has been a great help. Thank you

@@mamainastitch Are you kidding ME? I saved it already and am going to get some clothesline to make it. Would you have a problem if I made them and sold them in my Etsy shop? Is this your design? The reason I sell is because I got sick with epilepsy and had to stop working so I tried to figure out what I could do to help myself even a little. I'm thinking cats would like these too.

Look like as it gets bigger, you are only going in each stitch once rather than twice in a stitch when you began. I'm I seeing this or am I mistaken; or should i continue twice in each stitch, but it's a great video.

She said that if you want it absorbent to use cotton; however, she used yarn from her stash. Therefore, use whatever pleases you.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand. Do you have to do more increases the more rounds you do or is the increase the same(2 sc, then 2 sc in the same stitch)? Thank you so much for another wonderful pattern!
