Moonbyul is the purple haired rapper. She's the highest credited female artist of this generation of K-pop and the 3rd highest credited overall. She writes her rap verses which isn't that common in kpop. She's also a dancer and vocalist. Hwasa, the adult lol, also has many credits including cowriting and composing this song, and is a vocalist and rapper, and known as Korea's it girl lol. Solar is the blonde boxer, and she's the leader of the group, known for her strong belting vocals as well as a writer/composer. Wheein is the one with blue hair, and she is known as one of Korea's most talented vocalists as well as a great dancer. Honestly though, with Mamamoo, they all do everything lol. 4 vocalists, 4 rappers, 4 dancers.

Woooo! Another Moomoo??? Mamamoo is consider as Kpop's VOCAL AND LIVE PERFORMANCES QUEENS. They don't do lipsync, they are multi-talented, they are wonderful people. Aside from their amazing capabilities as artist they are also considered as the funniest girl group in SK because.... They are just showing their real selves wherever they go. My co-moomoos already suggested numerous recommendations and I hope you'll answer our requests. It's impossible to pick a bias in mamamoo (A FACT). MAMAMOO is also even considered as a music genre in SK because of their uniqueness in music industry and they have this signature concept that serves as their trademark as a group. MAMAMOO multi-talented group with creative freedom, in fact the name of the group has a very interesting history, this name came from a song that was composed for Quincy Jones (producer of Michael Jackson) when she went to Korean in 2013 the girls at a party they presented the song that was called mamamoo after presenting it, decided that the group will be called mamamoo and made arrangements to the song to present it as their debut song Mr. Ambiguos. This group in each comback experiments with different musical genres, has a wide musical repertoire of about 111 songs without counting the solos of each, if you want to know more of them I recommend you see their legendary presentations that are the MAMA 2018, immortal songs and Destiny of queendom this last song is on the same album as HIP but they presented it for a competition recently. there is also a very complete guide called introduction guide to mamamoo by sondery.

They debuted in 2014 from RBW Entertainment. The other groups I know from there debuted this year is Oneus and Onewe. Mamamoo has 4 members. Hwasa(I think she started the mv off), Moonbyul(the rapper), Solar, and Wheein! They all have solo music I think. Hwasa has a song called Twit. They just did a competition show called Queendom with (G)-IDLE, Oh My Girl, Lovelyz, Park Bom, and AOA. Mamamoo is one of my all time favorite girl groups!

Mamamoo are absolute vocal queens. Also very dorky! I definitely recommend their Immortal Songs medley and I'm certain all moos will agree on that. They showcase monster vocals and the medley shows quite a few of them! They are actually more known for their vocal prowess. Unfortunately, this song doesnt showcase their vocal ability. But this song is a diss to their haters. If you read the lyrics, the song will make more sense. If you wanna see their vocal ability, I recommend the immortal songs 2 medley. Immortal songs 2 is a singing competition where contestants cover songs from the past (the legends of the Korean music industry, so to speak). Although they did have a Michael Bolton and a Whitney Houston special a while back so it's not just for Korean artists, but its mostly catered to korean artists, songwriters, etc. Essentially the show allows people to cover songs from artists/songwriters who have had a huge impact on the music industry. MAMAMOO has competed on that show about 8 or 9 times and have won 3 times, I think. One of the few idol groups that have gotten invited to the show more than once.

Mamamoo isn’t regular. And when I say that. I mean ALL the members. Mamamoo are known for the fabulous vocals. Like extremely good vocals. They don’t know how to lipsinc and are on all performances spot on. Also this group is self made. They compose, write, choreograp and are all multi talented like all can rap dance and sing but some of them can also play piano, drums and guitar. They have a Sick stage presence and are extremely popular in SK. Unfortunately internationally they are slept on. The rapper is moonbyul The girl in the beginning is Hwasa The girl with blue hair is Wheein And the blonde one is solar. others have explained these women are all multi-talented artists who are capable of doing pretty much anything... they love mixing and blending musical genres, trying new things, redoing their songs into different styles for award shows... we don't see quite as much of the medleys and adlibs tailored to location/audience as we used to, but those still happen... and the harmonies... you should absolutely check the rest of the 'reality in black' album that "hip" is on, as well as so many more of their songs all four are capable of doing all roles, though we haven't ever had official raps from solar or wheein and hwasa doesn't rap nearly as much as she used to. moonbyul has begun singing quite a bit more lately, which is a beautiful thing one of their biggest things, and you'll see it a lot in a variety of ways in so many of their performances, is each member being able to showcase their individuality while also managing to come together as a cohesive whole people have already given you some great recommendations, sondery's 'guide to mamamoo' is a great first stop since it covers a fair bit of each member and the group as a whole (including showing some of their playfulness and a bit of the early struggles they went through) but it doesn't include things such as their offstage work... how all four are acknowledged lyricsts and composers, they do their own choreography for a lot of their songs or things like solar producing some songs and byul's directing aspirations the 'mamamoo acapella queens' and 'immortal songs medley' are both great for showing off their vocal abilities, though they're both a few years old the group's early stuff tended to have jazzy or retro feels to it and some great examples are "mr ambiguous" (their debut song) and even their predebut work in "peppermint chocolate" or "don't be happy", "piano man" (very much jazzy), "ahh oop" (kinda 50'sish?). they also have hiphop tracks, if you can believe it. "taller than you" is an oldschool style diss track about each other's height, "sleep in the car" is about some of the troubles of idol life. their more recent title tracks have been more... edm, though even that isn't even used or done in quite the typical way, as they like to mix other things in ("egotistic" having very much a latin flair as an example) and always ensure to highlight their vocals. for pure vocals, there's the likes of "paint me". for sultry, we've got "words don't come easy" and the newer "high tension" and then there's the topics they cover... quite a lot of their music is about self-empowerment, self-love or female empowerment, being a better you in some way. they also have some songs with more unusual themes, such as "recipe" (literally about cooking), "aze gag" (dad jokes), "waggy" (pets), "zzzz" (boredom), "hello mama" (missing your mother). i would go on, but this is already too long...sorry...

Yes, Mamamoo's name is goofy and so are the members when they're not busy being incredibly talented serious artists. Mamamoo's artist vs crackhead duality is almost as legendary as their vocals. Besides the wacky group name, the fandom name is moomoo. Moo means radish in Korean and moomoos wave daikon radish shaped light sticks at their concerts. Mamamoo + moomoo + radish light sticks = a dork trifecta. Welcome to the radish farm! 🤣 Mamamoo has many MVs and hours of live performances to watch (their recent concerts lasted over 4 hours). They're best when they're live. A good intro & sampler that's like a mini-version of one of their concerts is their show-stopping appearance at the 2018 MAMA award show (find the full 8 minute vid). If you watch their performances on Queendom you'll get a good picture of their musical diversity, individual talents, majestic vocals, and absolutely riveting stage presence. The Queendom full group songs were Decalcomanie, Good Luck, I Miss You, and Destiny (Moonbyul also did a solo dance and Hwasa did a duet with a member of another group). Off the top of my head they used at least 8 or 9 musical genres in those 4 songs and at different times they brought the studio audience to tears or hyped them up and turned Queendom into a moo-party. Lots of people pooh-poohed their win on Queendom by saying Mamamoo just did a Mamamoo as though their performances were nothing special or out of the ordinary, which shows how taken for granted they are in the kpop community and how underrated they are for a group that imo is one of the best girl groups in the history of pop music. I think we should celebrate greatness when it comes around and try to enjoy it to the fullest while we can. Enjoy exploring the wild, wacky, wonderful world of Mamamoo!

The idea behind MAMAMOO’s name is that it’s baby talk. So it’s natural sounding and easy, roll of the tongue. Apparently in south korea babies say “mamamoo” 😂

that's actually a... not exactly a 'backronym', but pretty similar. someone else explained the quincy jones thing, where 'mamamoo' was the adlib they used frequently in the song, so the song got named for it. afterwards, one of the staff suggested just using that as the group's name, since they were on the verge of debuting but still had no name (...one of the names bandied about for them was 'belly button' because they wanted to be at the center of music). the song also got remade into their debut song, "mr ambiguous", with 'mamamoo' in the song becoming 'ememoh' (korean word for ambiguous) later, the group and their ceo came up with the baby talk story to explain the name because it was easier to explain (but not exactly easier to understand) than the adlib thing
