at this point in their life, wheein and hyejin (hwasa) have been friends for 13+ years, having met in middle school. they grew up in the same childhood town and hyejin's parents took wheein under her wing (wheein's family situation is not the best). they had the same dream and made it into the same group. they have matching tattoos that say "resonance" (back ankle) and "caddo" (side of neck). they are the maknae line (younger members). i just-love their friendship so much... and to hear you talk about their harmonies at 13:32 adds one more piece to that mosiac of their relationship and dynamic. i would say they're soulmates, in every sense of the word.

I think everyone forgets that Wheein debuted her first solo with Jungkey's collaborative single. The song is "Anymore" and is the first ever acknowledged Mamamoo solo single that reached number 1 in Korea. It was in 2017.

It's not that neither I nor everyone else totally forget about "Anymore", it just that it's technically Jungkey's songs tho with Wheein as the featured artist. So basically in Korea, it's not really a Wheein's solo song since the music awards and such also named it as Jungkey "Anymore" (ft.Wheein). It's a different case with her song "Easy" where Sik-K being the featured artist, so it's actually Wheein (ft.Sik-K) not the other way around. I mean it's still okay tho if you still want to classified that as her solo, it's not that deep actually hahaha. I guess everyone just has different opinions on which they think as solo/collab/featured.

Katriinka, I was wondering if you've heard their ballad "I Miss You"? I'm not sure if that's the best example, and particularly because I don't know exactly what constitutes belting, but I've always thought that all 3 of Solar, Wheein and Hwasa were the main belters of the group. I just wanted to ask to make sure because I've seen Wheein going off with what looks like belting on shows like King of Masked Singer (her alias was "Like a half moon"), Singing Battle or Duet Music Festival, or just basically in general, so I was wondering what the difference was.

while i love all four of their voices immensely and can never get enough of any pairing of them, the wheein+hwasa vocal pairing and wheein+moonbyul vocal pairing just always hit me so, so hard. and each pairing affects me in a different way that can be hard to explain i think part of it for wheesa (wheein+hwasa) is the fact that the two have been such a huge part of each others lives for so long. the two met back in middle school, went to seoul to pursue music together, debuted in the same group and have been at each others side ever since. they've been singing together for well over a decade and that's one reason they seem to fit together so well there's actually one duet song between the two, a ballad called "loving one person" that i both love and hate at the same time... it's definitely worth checking out at some point, possibly if you try to get into subunit songs... of which there are only two official ones: "angel" (solar+wheein) and "dab dab" (moonbyul+hwasa), but there's also solar+moonbyul performing a song together at a show called 'sugarman' (mamamoo was on that show as a whole later, twice) as for the moonbyul+wheein vocal pairing... i think one reason that hits a lot of people so hard is the similarities in their voices. if you pitch byul up a bit or wheein down a bit you get a near identical version of the other's voice. it's actually pretty crazy and people have tweaked some of each one's solo work to give us an idea of what the other would sound like singing it

As a Wheein bias I'm slightly just slightly sad that the song didn't showcase Wheein's belting technique. But, I understand. Wheein' s belts are phenomenal but doesn't have that explosive power like Solar and Hwasa so I agree with the choices. I just want "Wheein the backbone" to receive more recognition from new moomoos as well. I love Solar and Moonbyul and Hwasa too. I love Mamamoo.

@@brianlee4984 I know a lot of clips of Wheein doing explosive belts, but I guess her belts shine more when she cobines it with some insane riffs. Also, Wheein's belts are so flawlessly smooth that you can hear zero tension in her voice which makes us feel less power than she actually does. So if I'm the producer and I have to choose only two vocalists for the belting part, I think I'll choose Solar and Hwasa as well. Personally though, I would love to give Wheein one of the belting parts so we can actually compare three different vocalists' approach towards belting. I'm a Wheein bias and I actually fell in love with her belts so,,, you don't reall have to remind me that Wheein has insane vocals🥰👍

Hwasa's voice and Moon's voice are something else Wheein and Solar are amazing as well, but for me Hwasa and Byul... oof I can't express how their voices make me feel ♡ Wheein is leaving RBW, but she's still promoting with Mamamoo, at least for this comeback, I still don't know what to feel about it, but I saw it coming since she was taking so long to renew her contract. Mamamoo is one of the greatest girl groups to ever exist, so I hope we get more of them in the future. Since all the other Mamamoo members did renew their contracts I bet they will still be with us for a while as Mamamoo...but idk if Wheein will be part of that later on, can't say I'm not worried, but I just hope she finds her own way to fly and be happy ^^
