In this video we discuss six of the most popular methods you might want to try if you are hoping to get your labor started! But BREAKING NEWS...there really is NOTHING scientifically proven to start labor....except actual labor! All of the methods we discuss in this video are supported by ANECDOTAL evidence only. Many of them don't have risks associated so try them as you wish (after discussing with your provider as always!) but none of these will be a Hail Mary unfortunately!
We are going to talk about MOVEMENT, EATING DATES, doing the DEED, MEMBRANE SWEEPS, and of course I will talk about CASTOR OIL TO BRING ON LABOR (and what I say about it might just surprise you!)
I promise your baby will eventually come on out to meet you but if for whatever reason you simply can't wait another second give these methods a go and let me know if they worked for you!

40+5 in my 4th pregnancy. Cant wait to meet my baby. Edit to add- had my baby the next day. Had a partial membrane sweep at 40+3 and at 40+5 I basically spent all day anytime I sat down I sat down on the yoga ball and did nipple stimulation for an hour using a single breast pump switching sides to very 15 minutes. Went to bed sad there was no sign of labor. Woke up in the morning and started having contractions. Had my baby 4 hours later.

Not pregnant or planning to be for years, but I have intense medical phobias and have been terrified of the thought of going to a hospital for birth but want to be safe! After finding your videos and other very sweet L&D nurses I feel WAY more comfortable about going in to a hospital. I have been praying I'll get a kind team, I am a very sensitive person and I'm worried I won't be able to stick up for myself when put in such a vulnerable and scary position.

It's great you're working to prepare yourself and are getting more comfortable! It's important to know that if you are not vibing with your assigned nurse for whatever reason, you can ask for a different nurse. Just ask to speak to the charge nurse and let them know how you're feeling. You can do this without throwing the nurse under the bus, too. If you just explain you have anxiety and that the nurse did nothing wrong (unless they did do something inappropriate, of course). If u don't feel like u can advocate for yourself, have your support person help, or consider hiring a doula.

My OB is encouraging induction with me at 39 weeks and I reaaally would like to avoid it, I hate doing any medical procedure unless absolutely necessary. I’m a FTM and know that the average day for us to go into labor is by 40+5 so, at my 40 week appt I’m going to schedule one for when I hit 41 weeks and hope baby comes before then. But I am convinced that going past 41 weeks and close to 42 can increase complications including stillbirth based on what doc told me so I am willing to give up my preference in that case.

Be careful when curb walking that you maybe choose a lower, gentler, even curb. Trying this out is is how I sprained my ankle during pregnancy. (Fortunately, I wasn't about to go into labor at the time.) The curbs in my neighborhood are not friendly, and I'm admittedly kind of clumsy, but even so...take some warning.

I’m 40 weeks today is my due date & I had no idea about the castor oil effects that could happen to baby, it makes sense because my first pregnancy I tried the castor oil and that night I went into labor and she had had a bowl movement when my water broke and was in the Nicu after birth due to how much she swallowed. I now wonder if that was because of the castor oil

I hate how in Germany they are batshit crazy about pulling baby out of you very prematurely. It's as if they want permanent medical cases. They pretend babies with 37 weeks are completelt done, there's no benefit in keep waiting etc. which is obviously a lie. When you are 41 week they pretend you are the worst case of medical emergency even with no signs of deteriorating pregnancy, even with quite the opposite they want to cut you open and get baby out, nevermind the damn date could be wrong because of no perfectly timed peroids etc.

I’d be curious to know why your doctor put you on bed rest. That’s not usually something that’s done anymore (pelvic rest and bed rest are different things) and if they are concerned enough to put you on bed rest I would wonder why they wouldn’t suggest induction now as you are 39 weeks and 40 days. I cant advise you to go against your providers care recommendations so walking seems to be out. Did they do a membrane sweep? Please pay attention to your baby’s movements over the weekend closely ok and go on and get checked out if you’re at all concerned about any changes in baby’s patterns of movement ♥️

Chat with your provider. There is pretty small amounts of evidence on dates. We know like I mentioned they are a great punch of calories and nutrients that takes up small space in your tummy but how they actually induce labor the evidence is fleeting. Oh goodness lots of reasons. Csection is a major abdominal surgery that comes with a major recovery and long term effects! A lot of women want a vaginal delivery because they are better able to care for and bond baby immediately following birth. Lots of reasons! Maybe they want lots of other kids and having C-sections for that increases risk of uterine rupture…

I agree, inducing labor unnaturally is so unnecessary if baby is not coming out on 41 just start a c section already. I mean almost 40% of induced labors end witj c section anyway so why traumatize mothers unnecessarily. C section is safer for baby amd mother also person can get having c sections for other pregnancies if tjere is less than 3 years apart between babies
