Why does this scare me more than birthing my bun??

Im so glad i had tips like these five months ago. I have a fear of this. My mother has cerebral palsy and so shed be constipated for weeks. Her pooping was sometimes a hospital emergency that required minor surgery. That kind of pain is something you never forget when you see it. I was drinking about 2 gallons a day, chugging laxatives and only ate soft food. SO MANY PRUNES! I didnt have any painful poops. When i was breastfeeding, a couple hard ones, but never anything serious

Pffftt I started taking a stool softener the day I hit 37 weeks and took 1 single pill daily until almost 3 weeks postpartum. I didn't do that with my 1st cause I didn't know. I did know with my 2nd and it made my postpartum poops uneventful and smooth.

I mixed up my stool softeners with my ibuprofen from the hospital. So less than a day. 😂😂😂
@Kmb3383121 сағат бұрын
I only had 2 stitches so that also helped. Labor was a million years (40 plus hours) but i got lucky on the tearing situation. And I was actually doing ok without the pain meds. I’d had like one ibuprofen and 9 stool softeners. 🤣. In my defense the stool softeners were little brown round circles (like ibuprofen!) and the ibuprofen they gave me were giant oval horse looking pills. Could I have read the label? Sure. But why do that. 😂

I had a C-section and I didn't realize until 3 days after birth that I hadn't pooped. Felt that I had to go but couldn't and was so uncomfortable. My amazing nurse Mary made me a warm prune juice drink with a little butter in it. I pooped with ease less than 30 min later 😂😂 highly recommend!! Thank you nurse Mary!!

I was so scared after my c section, but at day 2 I couldn't hold it anymore. It wasn't pleasant and the incision did hurt, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.😅🫣

My mom waited almost a week and then lied to the nurses that she had went as she didn't have the money to stay in the hospital longer... so now I have to hear the fun story of her going at it with a spoon at home as she was so desperate, and they didn't actually help her with any laxitives or anything in that time either so it was a rock

How many DAYS?! I was told "12hrs max or enema/laxatives" for an induced vaginal in '96. And I had crazy good ins- no "24hrs & out the door" type stuff, so it wasn't bc of that. My **minimum** mandatory recovery stay (& baby's too) was 5 full days or they wouldn't pay a cent. 5-7 days, 100% covered. Anything over 7d & up to 10d (without medical necessity) I'd be responsible for 20% of total. Everything above 10d without medical necessity I'd be responsible for in full. ALL for both of us. Find ins coverage like that now offered willingly by an employer on day one with minimal employee monthly payments (I was paying roughly $12/m for THREE PEOPLE. The rest was paid by employer.)I dare you.

Yeah I’m 7 weeks from induction and my son’s name will be Xavier. That’s it. As a teacher I just can’t. Someone told me to add a z to it and I nearly choked.

I'll be honest, I don't remember how long it took for my first postpartum poops. I do remember it being way easier with baby number 2, largely because I didn't tear, praise God!

I was too scared to go and held it for two days. I found that magnesium taurate tablets helped the best. I was very careful about what I ate. Nothing processed or empty carbs, that stuff doesn't want to come out without a fight. 😅

The more videos I see, the more I wonder why anybody gets pregnant. This sounds like hell on earth. I'm so grateful you're doing this so young women understand exactly what they're getting themselves into by choosing to get pregnant and bear a child. To me, it seems like complete and utter hell on your body from conception through eighteen months postpartum.

I've had four. You forget about it all once you have baby fever for another. Lol. It's so worth it. All of these things are temporary, and the rewards of having a blessing of a new life makes going through all of this just part of the process, and manageable.

My first 3 births were homebirths and it was easy peasy. No problem whatsoever. I was so nervous. With my 4th there were alot of complications and I had been awake for weeks and I chose a hospital transfer and an epidural, and I don’t know if that’s what did it but that first BM was a nightmare, actually they all were for several weeks 😢 Not sure what exactly the difference was but it was awful.

Also, magnesium! Try to have some in your system before Baby is born! It helps to have already been hydrated and loose before giving birth so that afterwards you don't miss a beat.

This just wasn't an issue for me. Like at all. It was a,total non evemt. Apparently I filled my entire cathermter bag in like 6 hours so I was hydrating like a boss. Drink a bunch and eat lots of dried fruits.

I pooped the next day but with a 2nd degree tare it was horrible. It was so soft and I did all of this stuff and still cried lol. I used a cold tucks pad to hold my perineum (where my stitches were located) and that helped. Also don't push at all. If you have to push to poop, get up and walk around, drink some water, take some more laxative lol. I always say the worst and most painful part about having a baby vaginally is pooping after. I cried the first few times. ETA: I took miralax daily for 2 weeks before my induction to prepare for the postpartum poop. Off topic but I was so nervous the day I was going oyn that I pooped all day long. Super interesting that my body cleared out even though I was being induced. One sign that non induced labor is coming is an increase in bowel movements. That is to prepare the body and make room for baby.

I had a really deep episiotomy and was dreading my first poop. I was pleasantly surprised as it wasnt in the slightest bit painful. What was excruciatingly painful was when my stitches were healing but not dissolving. It was even worse when I i tried to poop. My midwife snipped the stitches and the relief was immediate.

I literally emptied my colon during my birth. It was like 4 days after I finally pooped again and I was so scared bc I’ve always been a constipated girly and thought I was gonna hurt. I did not take laxities (they make me sick ☹️) but to my surprise it was pain free. Uncomfortable, but pain free. And I had a ton of stiches due to zig zag 2nd * tears🥲

Both my OB and postpartum nurse were amazed when I had a bowel movement just 24 hours after I gave birth. Granted I had a C-section, but I was lucky because I didn’t have any pain other than from my incision.
