Have you heard the term NON STRESS TEST and thought uh what?? If you have ever had to have monitoring done on your baby while you were pregnant you were likely connected to a FETAL HEART RATE MONITOR but all those lines on the screen...they may have been really overwhelming.
In this video we are looking at that monitor and that equipment so that you can know what you are seeing on the screen and how that relates to how your baby is doing in your uterus!
I will talk about:
- what is a non stress test (NST)
- why do we do non stress tests on babies
- what is continous fetal heart rate monitoring
- how do we connect you to electronic fetal heart rate monitors
- what will you see on the screen while we are monitoring your baby
- what is a reassuring fetal heart rate
- what are some other things we might look for other than how fast your baby's heart is beating
- what will happen if I go in for a non stress test and everything does not look ok?
And let me know if there is anything else you wanna know about your baby in utero and their heart rate!!
