I'm so glad you found him & brought him safely back. The thing that I'm amazed at is that they totally understand action & consequence...not to mention concern/worry. Lundi reprimanded him for his action the next day...and he understood what he was getting scolded for. These videos are priceless for education about elephants. I believe the more people learn about them, the more people will be motivated to help save them. I learned this today, & also learned (from reading) that elephants are the only land mammal that can cry, like humans.
@thefairyqueen3693 жыл бұрын
I agree it's wonderful learning about them. I believe children should have this taught at school from when they are toddlers so that they can start to really understand and respect Nature. It may even spur them on to become a vet in wildlife....who knows. These days they are filling kids heads with things that confuse them instead of getting them to focus on this beautiful world we have around us that has been so badly managed that now more than ever we need to address these issues for their future and older years! I know most kids would love this.....if they were only given the chance......

What a naughty boy. “He was chasing the herd and they were running from him.” Lol. Thinking he’s ‘all that’ like young bulls do, lol, he was probably quite confused why they wouldn’t want him around. I bet he understood Mama Lundi’s trunk spanking though. Major kudos to Tigere, Last and Owen and others who worked so hard to get him back. I’m really impressed how they were able to use Mambo’s spoor to track him. That’s a heckuva skill not many would be able to do. I’m sure those were three very long days for the guys, not knowing if they would even find him or if he would be safe and well when they did.

I had missed this video until right now. About 4 or 5 years ago, little Mambo, as he was then, would accompany Lundi (my favourite because she has a very smooth gait), but run away into the bushes and not pop out for some minutes. One late afternoon, as it was getting dark and we were returning to the stables, Mambo went missing again. We could not get Lundi to budge one step. She just stood there and trumpeted for him and we all had to wait about 5 minutes until her finally reappeared. She was so cross!😉 💞🐘

Again, what is it with BOYS? I know part of it is the testosterone- but that is usually not the issue when they are young (as in your story). Mambo obviously is CURIOUS by Nature...Goid thing he is a male - BUT he is not a Wild Male... Have any of the Jabulani Bulls "reprimanded" him or "gotten in his face" to take him? It may take a BIGGER, OLDER Bull, like Sebakwe, the Dominant Bull, to rein him in, even more than Tokwe, his mom. 🤞🙏🤞🌾🌾🌾🐘🌾🌾🌾🤞🙏🤞

There is the reality that he was raised by humans and his internal instinct. His natural instinct is to leave the herd of cows and find his own way. His secure life at Jabulani won't change what he is driven to do. The breeding instinct is the strongest, and I wonder if in the wild bulls breed with cows of the herd they were born into - perhaps natures way of avoiding inbreeding. I suspect he will leave again, for better or for worst.
