It is sadly unbelievable to me that Ms. Johnson was not celebrated as the hero she was. To date, this video has had only 4.7K views. Penny Marshall knew what she was doing to include ‘Peanut’ as she did, in a fictitious pitch in ‘A League of Her Own,’. May our lives, like Ms. Johnson’s, define our legacy in the subtleties of our life. I tip my hat to Peanut.

Ms. Johnson, please know that there are many of us who do know. We see you for who you are. I'm sorry that you weren't allowed to play, but rest assured, we know who you were and respect you to this day.

Every single time I watch A League of Their Own… that scene makes my eyes water. What a miserably awful history this country has.

I'm not disputing this, but couldn't that African-American woman who threw the ball to Dottie HInson (Geena Davis) but caught by Ellen Sue Gotlander (Freddie Simpson) could have also been Toni Stone or Connie Morgan? There was 2 African-American women in the background. Maybe they were composites of all 3.

5:30 was my favorite part, lol. They were out of there minds, that's right you tell them, she was probably better than those white girls on they're best or worst day, that's they're lost.

I am sorry but her story doesn't make sense one she was born in 1935 and the league started in 1943 which that is when the movie takes place so she couldn't be represented in the movie when she was only 7 to 8 years of age

It was made in 1992 though, Penny Marshal knew that the actress, Delisa Chinn Tyler waa good because the had a special tryout in order to get that part throwing the ball to Geena. Which she ovee threw to prove her point. The entire scene was about the blatant racism that Black women faced while trying to earn a living and play professional ball. They were so good that they actually played with male pro teams white and Black. Negro or Black Women playing ball were very good at the game, probably to the point of up staging white women.
