The Mamiya RB67 is one heck of a beast when it comes to cameras. It weighs a ton but therefore is built like a tank. The camera is fully manual and has no electronic compartments.
It takes 120 roll film and delivers 6x7cm large negatives, which is great for scanning, even at home.
A special feature is a rotating back. Due to its size, the camera would be hard to operate in portrait mode, therefore you can simply rotate the film back from horizontal to vertical orientation and continue snapping.

I’m a film shooter with several cameras but my main one is a Leica M6 which I love. I do all my own processing and have a darkroom in my home. I just purchased an RB67 and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive.

Beautiful portraits man! I recently got the RB67 and I almost sold it again after purchasing a 645 Super, except when I got my first rolls from the RB back I just couldn't let it go!!

Sam Tanner interestingly, the first analog camera I bought was a 645s as well and it was not working properly, so the guy also had the RB to sell and I got it for the same money. I can super relate to that. The big negatives are fun to work with

Right now I use a canon a-1 camera, or holga for medium format, but soon I’ll be shooting with a RB.... my favourite films are ilford hp5 that I develop in my bathroom, or,if I’m splurging then Kodak Portia is wonderful. Thanks for the great video, learned a lot bout the system.
@ALLGEAREDUP
@ALLGEAREDUP 6 жыл бұрын
Awesome!!! when you get your RB maybe try a few rolls of Ilford Delta films, shooting quality lenses and using low grain film can be awesome! (also because you can push process it like crazy) Other than that it basically is the same combo I am using. if I shoot color, also mostly Portra, except for 35mm film, I go for the much cheaper Kodak Color Plus 200.

Mamiya RB67 is my favorite one. Even with lenses which are not the fastest ones, it has outstanding sharpness and great size. The only "disadvantage" I can find is the lack of other lenses which can be attached to it, form other brands.
@ALLGEAREDUP
@ALLGEAREDUP 6 жыл бұрын
I loved it. But it is also very similar to my Mamiya RZ and I can share lenses from my Rb series over to the RZ, which was super convenient. I think the lack of adaptable lenses is mainly due to the form factor, as this can shoot 6x8 and also has a rotating back. So, all lenses would need to cover 8x8 cm format really. Do you process your own film? I never minded the lenses to be relatively slow as I have pushed film for like 5 stops and still get a decent dynamic range with it. That is a loooot of light compared to my digital medium format which I can shoot at iso 200 max and the fastest lens I got is a 2.8

ALL GEARED UP I process my own film. I love this camera. For some time I even used it as a street camera. And it is impossible to take a picture withot being discovered by the subject. However and in difference with a normal dslr, which everybody has one, when the subjetc in the street sees the camera, they just allow you to take the picture. I think it is because it makes the feel that you are not an amateur. However, recently I began using a Pentacon 6, which is definetely not as advanced, tecnically speaking, as the RB. But it has something interesting which RB does not. The lenses. You can attach a Peztvar, a Sonnar, or even an Aeroektar, which expanses the posibilities to a higier level. It is just that. Some lenses that could make things like Petzvar would be simply great!. Maybe one day someone will look back to the RB and design new stuff.

Oh interesting, I don't really do street photography but I have encountered the same. People are more interested in what you are doing when you show up with such a big camera instead of being worried about what you might use an image they are possibly in the frame. I bet the Pentacon 6 is also much easier to carry with you =) I usually decide to go for the big boys or take an old small 35mm camera with me. Then I am mostly shooting Kodak Color Plus 200 because it is so cheap
