Mammoth Cave is a bucket list item. Did it in 2017. Would love to go back again. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

I would do one of the other cave tours in a heart beat. I think the one I was on was the "Historic Tour". Lots more cave to see. Thanks for coming along.

Thanks for sharing another adventure with us Jim. As usual, it's nice to follow along and see what you have been up to. I am sure I would also like the cave tour but the stairs.. Not so much !!. The walk back up would hurt. Take care and I will catch you on your next video.

The long walk from the main building to the first meeting landing was perhaps the worse for me. It was a constant ramp. You are right though, the number of stairs especially coming back up was a killer. It was one of those tours that once you start you have to keep going as there is no turning back. I should have pointed out in the video that there are no porta-potties on the tour either.

i was there on a bike trip 8 years ago and did the same tour of it you did. It was mid July and the temp difference between the cave interior and parking lot was about 20 degrees !

The 1st of Oct. the difference was not nearly so much. I carried a hoodie with me and never needed it. The caves are awesome aren't they?

You are braver than I going underground……I don’t like that Idea at all. That was a very large cave though and stands to reason for the name of it for sure.

There were only a few times when it felt like a confined space. The only confined space that every made me feel uneasy was a ship's hull in 90' of water at the bottom of Halifax Harbour. I'll tell you that story over a drink and campfire someday.

I’ve visited Mammoth Cave too. Amazing to see. The hike up to the parking lot about killed me. 😂 We’ve stayed at the same COE campground a couple times. Managed to get a site both times right on the water. Lake Noland is beautiful. Can’t beat the cost with a Senior Card.

Unfortunately, as a Canadian, I can't get the senior card. I do pick up the America the Beautiful parks past when I go down though. It helps. That was a great COE. I'm staying at them more and more. I loved the cave tour but agree that the long walk back to the parking lot is a killer.

Really bugs me , the way most places seem to discriminate against tenters.

Jim, Glad you got to share your campsite bourbon at Mammoth Cave. Bourbon at a campsite is never bad, but with good company it is always better. Mammoth Cave is an impressive place. As I spent much of my career underground (president of an underground mining operation) it is rather "old hat" to me. Next year on your four corners circuit, you really need to stop at Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. It may not be as large as Mammoth, it is much, much more spectacular!

Carlsbad Caverns have been on my list od south western spots to see for quite a while. I seem to have a long list of those. Seriously have to think of wintering in the south west and Mexico.

I couldn't get the tour i wanted. I have bad knees and wanted to take a shorter and more senior friendly one. I walked down to the cave entrance just to get a perspective of its size. Ive been to Laurel Caverns in Pennsylvania so i have an idea what to expect. I enjoyed your tour and will have to try again maybe this year. That little hill going down to the entrance almost killed me. It was September and very very hot.

That hill at the entrance was a killer going back up! I would love to go there again and take one of the other tours. Hope you can get there and get a chance to do one of the tours.

Excellent weekend... did spend a little time contemplating my grandfather's who fought in and survived WWI. Mammoth Cave was well worth diverting into Kentucky.
