Anyone who says WVH is just riding off of his dad’s fame is a fool. He is so damn talented. No doubt he owes a lot of credit to his pops but he is out there totally doing his own thing now and it’s working for him.

Kid??? I don't get it!! Wolf (or should I say Wolfie) is a month away from being a 33 year old man, yet everyone treats him like he's Eddie's 15 year old son!! I won't deny he's talented, but before saying he's another "chip off the old block" let's not forget what "old block" Eddie Van Halen had accomplished by the time he was 33 years old. First of all, on his very first album, he not only defined himself as a virtuoso, he completely re-invented rock guitar!! (The only other person in rock n' roll who holds that distinction is Jimi Hendrix!!) Almost overnight, Eddie became a huge influence on virtually every up-and-coming rock guitarist on this planet!! Secondly, Eddie had recorded 8 albums on a major label by the time he was 33. All 8 of these albums were multi-platinum albums (2 were certified diamond), 2 of them went to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart (5150/0U812), one went to #2 (1984), one went to #3 (Diver Down), one went to #5 (Fair Warning), and two went to #6 (VH II, and Women & Children First). In other words, 7 of his 8 albums charted at #6 or higher and this included two #1 sellers. Although the VH debut album was the only 1 of these 8 that failed to crack the Top 10, this album would eventually be certified Diamond in the USA meaning it has sold over 10 million copies in the USA alone making it and 1984 (also Diamond) his two biggest selling albums. Although VH never tried or wanted to be a Top 40 band, by the time Eddie was 33 he managed to have 13 Top 40 hits (4 of which made the Top 10). Those hits were "Jump" (#1), Why Can't This Be Love (#3), "When It's Love" (#5), Pretty Woman (Cashbox #10, Billboard #12 ), "I'll Wait (#13), Panama (#13), "Dance The Night Away (#15), "Dreams" (#22), "Love Walks In" (#22), "You Really Got Me" (#36), Dancing In The Street (#38), and many, many more that just missed the Top 40 but charted in the Top 100. They also had numerous songs that were played heavily on AOR radio stations, such as "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love, Running With The Devil, & Unchained. Let's not forget the power of MTV in the 1980's and the fact that Van Halen was one of the biggest and most requested acts on MTV. In addition to their big hits, VH had many videos that were on heavy rotation on MTV including "The Cradle Will Rock" and the mega-popular "Hot For Teacher". Last but not least, VH was one of the most successful touring acts throughout the period of 1978 thru 1988 (when Eddie reached the age of 33). Their 1984 Tour was one of the biggest grossing tours of all time. In 1983, they were paid 1.5 million dollars to play at the US Festival making them the highest paid act at that 3-day event. (Note: $1.5 million dollars in 1983 would be equivalent to $4.53 million today. That works out to an approximate hourly wage of $2.25 million/hour minus expenses for the band (assuming a 2 hour show).

@riskromer9773 I wouldn't say that at all. I think musical talent runs in the genes and it certainly helps if you have a famous dad to inspire and hopefully teach you. On the other hand, a lot of famous musicians stay on the road constantly and aren't home much to teach their kids, but I'm sure they have no problem arranging quality lessons for their kids.

What a talent this guy is! Plays every instrument on his albums, and his vocals remind me a lot of Glenn Hughes.

I saw one of Eddies,VHs,first tour concerts. I love VH and wish the Wolfman all the best. I'm very concerned about his weight though. I hope he gets it under control while he's still young.
