To automate my garden maintenance I install the Luba AWD 5000 robot lawn mower. The amount of time I save is just massive.
Apologies for the slightly lower audio quality in some sections. My primary microphone died, so I had to go to the backup.

Hey Lars, thanks a lot for the insight. The mower looks really great. I am looking forward to seeing a long term review on it. Just one thing that annoyed me quite a bit: the audio is really bad this time 😅

Thanks Daniel. I am looking forward to seeing how it does long term too. So far, it really hasn't missed a beat. I am hoping with regular maintenance it will work for a long time 😊 Yes, my lapel mic died mid recording, so I had to use the Røde receiver unit's built in mic. It isn't as good, but considering it was for only about 8min of audio, and I am perfectly audible, I made the call to use the footage. It's fixed for next time. Thanks for watching 😊

Hey mate, I think that's a pretty fair impression. I've had mine for 2 months now - mowing 2500m^2 of lawn with some steep ~60% gradient sections. Very very happy. As I said earlier it's much better than any of the random pattern mowers, and the hardware quality is the best I've seen. Couple of points/improvements - need to clean the cutters and deck more often on smoother lawns (I've got couch) else it does leave strips of different height as it mows, or checkerboard pattern if you do a grid. Some may consider this a feature rather than a bug. :) The big one I would like is path randomisation. It uses the same path to get back to the charger, and over two months it has created a visible path across the lawn. This is more of an issue as I have multiple areas that are accessed across the main lawn. The "follow the edge" mode creates a path along the edge whch is better but still leaves a visible path. For the blades getting stuck - a lot of people on various groups have 3D printed covers that go on the rotors to protect the pivot point for the blades. The Husqvarna models have this by default and I think it would be a great update for mammotion to add from the factory.

Those are awesome points and tips. Thank you 😊 I have been cleaning it pretty regularly, cause it runs all the time as well. I am considering buying a big supply of blades too as I know I will go through them. I don't have a problem with the paths. Yet. I have placed the mower quite central, so it goes in various directions, but come winter/wet it might be worse. I have noticed it digs up the ground pretty bad if it does zero turns regularly in one spot. I'll check out those covers too. I don't have a 3D printer yet, but can get a friend to print them.

@@LarsKlintTech Have you rotated the blades before changing them? I bought three sets of spare blades from Amazon. My unit arrived with a spare set which was unexpected. So now I have five blade sets in total ! Each set can be rotated to a new face 4 times before you would either throw them out or sharpen. So that is 20 blade changes from sets! My Luba is just coming up to 100 hours of run time with me changing the blade face in use at 50 hour intervals. At this rate I have at least a years supply if not more. WRT the blades getting stuck I have found it is more prone to it if the grass is damp. I unjam them with just a set of gloves and twisting them - without the need loosen the screws. If I spent 5 min doing this every couple of days it is time well spent.
@LarsKlintTech
@LarsKlintTech 6 ай бұрын
@@tedlandy I am aware of the rotation, which I have done once already. The first installation got a bit of a beating as the mower is finding its way around the many lawns. I had two with a chip in them, and a few had gone blunt. I will rotate them fairly often to start with and then I'll see how it settles in. Yes, after I recorded the video I started just removing the grass as well, which is enough 90% of the time. All in all, maintenance is simple 😊 How do you measure the hours? Just a guess or have you found an option in the app?
@tedlandy
@tedlandy 6 ай бұрын
@@LarsKlintTech Yeah I agree the maintenance is simple. The task records in the app include the mowing time, length and area. A bit over the top I know, but have been recording this time in and Excel SS to keep a tally of runtime as well as which lawn was mowed when and some other stats . Changing them "on condition" would work perfectly well.

They are a great mower! Best to buy from a local dealer so you get full after sales support

Yeah, it is amazing so far! Being in country Australia, the local dealer doesn't sell these, so online works better in my case. Mammotion also has full Australian support, including a local service centre.

well done ! i will put it on the shortlist for the replacement of my 10 Year Old Robomow RS630 , i like it has NO display as to my experience the display is one of the things that fail first , due to the sun / heat / cold ... and as its fully controlled by the APP a cost that can be avoided .

You are most welcome! I have used it for about 4 months now and it is still going strong. I have it doing almost all the lawn here, which is about 6000 m2, and the place has never looked better. It chews through blades, but I also have a lot of dust, sticks, bark and other things it needs to cut through. And yes, you don't need a display, because most of the time I don't even look at it! 😊

Future version of the garage should have a solar panel and battery so that it can just charge off the sun.

Thanks, nice. The background noise remembered me to a local zoo here in Belgium. 😂.nice. question, as it has two discs, they are not touching or overlapping each other, but, isn't there than a small centimeter or so gap that isn't mowed?
@LarsKlintTech

Haha, yes, lots of birds here. Difficult to record without them 😂 No, it does a slight overlap on each row, which is smaller or larger depending on the type of mowing.

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing video! I've been on the lookout for a perimeter wire-free lawnmower for ages, and the Segway Navimow seems like the perfect solution. Its convenience and efficiency are unmatched compared to other brands. I highly recommend giving it a try - it's a game-changer for maintaining a pristine lawn hassle-free.

Hahahaha, nice sales pitch. How does the Segway distinguish itself from the Luba? As far as I can tell, the Luba has better coverage (5000 m2), better incline ability, AWD, and looks way better.

How does it handle rocks? I live on an old iron mine and our property is littered with iron rocks that seems to magically migrate to the surface
@LarsKlintTech
@LarsKlintTech 6 ай бұрын
It depends on the height of the rocks. If they are "grass height" it will try and mow them. If they are up higher, the sensors will make the Luba avoid them. As masters of the robot (are we really, though? 🤔) it is our job to remove rocks, sticks, branches, children, dogs and other obstacles in its way.
