In this video I show you the Mammotion Luba 5000 Robotic Lawnmower. It is a fairly new robotic lawnmower capable of mowing yards up to 1.25 acres and doesn't need any wires for it to know where to go. Usually I don't like to spoil how well a product works but it has worked extremely well. I put it through the wringer and truly put its capabilities to the test.
Full Disclosure: I thought this was an extremely cool mower so I reached out to Mammotion to send me one to put it to the test and show you all the results. I am not being paid for the video and all of the thoughts and opinions are my own.

A solar charger would be a good addition for areas that are away from street power. We use solar powered electric fencing which paid for itself immediately because we didn’t need to run power to the pasture.

I've been waiting for this review of the Mammotion Luba. I really want to invest in a robotic mower. I can't physically be in any great heat. In the past 10 years, I've gone through 5 lawn crews for various reasons. It's such a MAJOR stressing point when spring comes around if my current crew is going to advise me they've gone out of business or an individual just disappears on me over the winter. I am adding this unit to my research spreadsheet for consideration. Thank you so much for an AWESOME review and video!! Excellent job.

Hi Quickdraw. A random note from New Zealand. We fought and battled with robot mowers trying to get them to mow a big, steep lawn in Auckland. After six months of trying we finally had to give up and refund the money! Very painful! In the past week or so we unpacked a Luba 5000 and in the depth of winter it nailed the entire property. We talking incredibly steep slopes, soaked ground/mud (in places) and well over an acre. What is amazing is seeing rolling lawns and steep hills all mowed in perfectly straight lines. It can also handle very long and tough grass. There are a few limitations with RPK signal sometimes, but apart from that this appears to be incredibly good tech. We are robot retailers and video people and, yes, we will be selling Luba 'down-under' in future. Happy robot hunting.

Several years ago I paid someone to mow my lawn for an entire year due to surgeries (at the time I was single, with a half-acre lot). At $2,800 this might have been a cost effective option - I can’t remember what I paid over the course of a year, but it seems like it was pretty close. But I still would have had to pay someone to trim the edges, so it wouldn’t have been a 100% payback in the first year.

Cool, good timing. I've been thinking about a robot mower. It would probably be stolen off my lawn before even completing its first cut, though, so I'm not sure it is right for me. Sitting outside to watch it so that it doesn't get stolen seems like no solution...if I'm going to do that, I might as well just mow the lawn. Also, a height max of 2.75 is too low IMHO. 3 inches is my preferred setting.

Luba is now being sold in Australia, which is salty-croc territory, so I'm sure it will be fine. I'm sure AI reptilian recognition will be added in future versions and the drive motors reprogrammed to 30mph in emergencies should do the rest. We're from down-under and have tested it successfully herding sheep. Very versatile. LOL.

I'm on the fence about buying one. There must be more than four motors. If there is one for each wheel, then how many more for the rotors and the height adjust? Elsewhere, a reviewer went from enthusiastic to sour when one of the wheel control arm broke after allegedly dropping the front from 12 inches. A commentor said one of the motors stopped working. It's not that which concerns me as much as the support so far. I would buy one now if it had the name Ego, Toro or some other well established company making it. I'm wondering if Ego has one in the works for next spring. I have a couple of their products so have several batteries.

Did you have to get the update that allows you mow 10,000 sq meters? I have been hearing that it's either already available or it will be. I'm buying a 3.15 acre piece of property and I'm pretty sure the grass portion is more than 1.25 acres, but if the 5000 can now mow 10,000 sq meters, well, that would mean 2.5 acres, which I suspect will work just fine for me, especially as my property has a big slope to it, so I'm gonna need the 4WD. Good video. Thanks. I was already subbed, so no need to do it again.

So yes there probably will be some interference. That is where the RTK comes in. It will help guide the mower when the mower itself can’t get good signal. In those areas it will slow down or even stop periodically due to it trying to retrieve its coordinates but I’ve never had mine stop completely for a long period of time below my big oak trees.

I live in a rural area and have some serious slopes... Luba is a beast in terms of power and handles the slopes and potholes my dogs dig. Each wheel has its own built-in motor... this unit does have some serious torque and it can handle some serious slopes. The front of my house has 3 large trees in the middle of my lawn and several up front. Luba has no issues with these trees. On the right side of my house, I have a very large apple tree with a lot of coverage and next to that tree is a wall of very high brush... Luba does go slow and even stops here and there... but ultimately gets through it.

I have the Luba 5000... had it for 3 months now. It's electric so there is no oil or anything like that. But it does require cleaning as the grass cuttings build ups under the unit and the small razor size blades. I need to spend 10 to 15 minutes about once every two or three weeks to clean up the unit. Tip the unit to the side, use low pressure hose to rinse and some minor scrapping. My blades are still in good shape, but I might replace them anyway... there are 8 of them in total. They cost about .50 cents each and takes about 10 minutes in total to replace all of them. I'm in the Eastern part of the country so after the summer, I will take in my unit and store it in the garage. That's about it.

@HowToHomeDIY
@HowToHomeDIY 9 ай бұрын
Haha I have not seen a beast mode. I suppose anything can be stolen but it would be a glorified paperweight if stolen. It has anti theft mechanisms in it. If it detects being picked up and taken out of the yard you will get an alert on your phone. It will then also transmit it's GPS coordinates. Also, it will be locked up and the only way to unlock it is with the true owner's account on their phone. So While anything can be taken, this would be worthless to steal.

@@HowToHomeDIY I'm sorry... I have the Luba 5000... had it for a couple of months and I love it. But I can tell you... it will not alert you if it's picked up and carried away and it certainly won't transmit it's GPS coordinates! Your correct that if its stolen, it will be useless to the person stealing it because it's bound to the RTK antenna that came with it and your account when you set it up. I love my Luba and I'm not very concerned in my area about it being stolen... but if I did live in an area where that is an issue, I would certainly be concerned. Many people who have the Luba have found unique ways to protect it using Apple or Android tags. Some people have even added dog tracking GPS units to it. But there is no real anti-theft protection for the Luba today and it doesn't push notifications if someone walks off it with it! There is a connector in the back of the Luba to add LTE ... but we now know that it's an empty slot so it will NEVER have LTE for tracking.
