Mamonas Assassinas, previously called Utopia, [1] [2] was a Brazilian comic rock band formed in Guarulhos in 1989. Their sound consisted of a mix of pop rock with influences from popular genres, such as sertanejo, brega, heavy metal, romantic pagoda, [1] forró, Mexican music and music. Hahaha these guys were pure comedy! You probably didn't pick that up but he sings this whole song with a mockingly exaggerated Northeastern accent because the Northeastern region in Brazil is known to have a very distinctive accent and vocabulary. This is why he pronounces the English words in such a funny way. Also, the lyrics are full of regional expressions and slangs 😆

When they died, all of Brazil stopped, you go out on the street, and there were people crying, schools didn't have classes that day. People did not go to work, companies closed. That is why they are called meteor mamonas. Because they were like a meteor, they passed and during 7 months of Band, that changed Brazil. It brought joy to Brazilians. And we will never again have a joy that we had during those 7 even. Brasília is the name of the car that's why "Brasília amarela" (Yellow Brasília). And Porreta means good, nice and they say "very porreta". They have a sog called 1406 where they mix English and Portuguese.

Mamonas Assassinas had a meteoric career. A friends band, that later a long time playing anonymously, receive a big opportunity of a music producer and written many musics (songs) in very little time for the first album. Surprisingly (or not), all the songs are incredible. It is very difficult to foreigners (of out the Brasil) understand the Mamonas songs because of regionality. They had a short time of fame until it ended in tragedy, but they let funny songs with us forever. We love Mamonas Assassinas. oh... Those guys started out doing rock cover songs, some of them in English, altough none of them, I believe, didn't actually know much English. But they didn't seem to care, nor did the audience. However, it was only when they started writing their own material, that they eventually hit the top. Their first album sold more than a million copies. By then they were doing every TV show and around 40 gigs a month. They of course had to hire a plane, and was like that unfortunetly that, going from a gig to another, their plane crashed, and they all died. Their lyrics at first were very much frown upon by the critics, who thought they had a "dirty mouth". But people just loved them, especially the children, who knew every word.
