For anyone thinking of getting a beautiful husky, please, properly look into it and inform yourself thoroughly. Too many huskies are being given to the shelters, because their owners didn't realize how much energy it takes to raise these dogs. They require an enormous amount of exercises and that may not fit into the owners' lifestyles.
@zoolkhan2 жыл бұрын
spot on. I live in finland. Here the huskies are in their natural environment - and can pull a sled and be comfortable outside. Theyre no herding dogs, theyre no "farm dogs" - in fact they have a strong hunting drive - and it is hard to get under control. They wil be friendly to humans, but that does not mean they will be easy to manage. It just means it is hard to make them bite you. Huskies are no handbag-dogs fulfilling some fashion dreams. And they certainly dont belong to california or hawaii. Huskies are energy packs and not ment to be kept in an appartment all day.

I agree, but would like to add that you should always research any breed that you are thinking of bringing into your home. And carefully consider whether you & your family are truly ready for the responsibilities that come with pet ownership.
@h.s.62692 жыл бұрын
Wish this could get pinned! So many people don't look into the requirements of lifestyle for many dog breeds. They want whatever dog they pick to mold into their lifestyle without even ensuring the breed's and specific dog's energy and training needs. Huskies are hilarious and adorable but require constant training and exercise to meet their instinctual need to work. They need mental and physical stimulation to feel fulfilled and content. Definitely not an apartment dog or a lazy bachelor dog.

I rescued a 17 year old kitty. Her forever mom had her 10 years, then passed away. The daughter lived with the mom, but had to move out of the house. The house was being sold to split the inheritance with her brother. She asked the brother to watch the cat for a few days while she physically moved to her new place. After a few weeks, the brother asked about her taking the cat back, and she said she would not be taking the cat back. The brother had a grandson that was allergic to cats, so the little old lady kitten had to be kept in his basement. But she is ultra snuggly, so that was awful for her. He reached out to the members of his church, noone could take her. He reached out to multiple no kill shelters, but they were all at max capacity. Then the shelter I used to volunteer for, sent out a cutesy email about grandma kitty, Gnarly, needing a home desperately. It was heart melting love at 1st sight. Of course I took her and she is now living a life of love, cuddles, and tons of cozy spots to nap. Not sure if I am allowed to post accolades to the rescue, but they are solid: Protectors of Animals in East Hartford, CT.

Its a work dog. And you didnt offer it enough exercise. Because youre another dumb ass buying a work dog for a casual pet owner. The reason it was acting "crazy" is because you didnt provide it with enough exercise. These dogs were bred to run long distances day after day. No shit its going to go crazy if it has to sit inside for 22 hours every day. 3 hours of running DAILY is NOT enough for a husky or a malamute. Think about that for a second. Can you exercise your dog for 3 hours daily, minimum? If not, do not even think about a husky or a malamute or a belgian shepherd etc

@@jamesdoakes4956 I had this problem with my parents Husky. After they went on vaccation, I bought a shock collar. Not one of the inhumane ones, but just one that buzzes and plays a very annoying sound around their ears. After the 3rd day, the family dog was almost perfectly obedient to a fault. He stopped barking at everything, stopped shitting in the house (yes he was trained to go outside but when he didn't get his way he pooped inside to protest) and stopped screaming when he didn't get his way. Parents have no idea to this day how I did it. I stand by the idea of discipling your dogs. Dogs aren't humans. They aren't children. They need to be told NO, what their boundaries are and punished when they repeatedly go over those boundaries. Any dog can be trained, it is usually 100% on the owners being push overs or bad people or just lazy for why they have shitty behaved dogs,

What you can't forget about huskies: they need so much exercise and stimulation. If they get it, it fixes their temper quite a bit usually. But really giving them a workout takes large amounts of time. There are sleds on wheels you can use for them to pull you around on. That satisfies them "faster", but tiring them out on a daily basis is quite the task

But right now in the puppy phase I can’t yet, so I’m really looking forward to when he turns a year so I can run with him. I would "translate" and say things like "you're not my real mom", and "you're not the boss of me". My second was a boy and looked so much like the one in this video. We adopted him from a shelter and they had named him Sky. We new we had to pick a new name because I didn't want to look crazy calling out "Sky" if he got out of the yard. We came home a few days after adopting him and he had destroyed seat cushions. They are a talkative breed with a HUGE personality! Lovely dog if you like to interact with your pet! My son has a Siberian Husky and she's quite a talker. That being said, I had a shepherd/lab cross who was a "talker", too and, I swear, smarter than most of my friends! LOL She also liked to stand on the console between the front seats and ride with her head out of the sunroof - we got a lot of smiles from other vehicle occupants over that!

@SUSAN CRAWFORD I know it's fun, but goodness, that's surely a death sentence if you were to get rear-ended or T-boned. She'll catapult through the windshield or get thrown through the sunroof right into traffic. I'm begging you to get her a doggy seat-belt and belt her in. I know, it isn't as fun, but imagine the guilt you'd feel if something were to happen to her.

My Belgium loved riding in the back of the pickup. Paws on the roof, barking at any one that looked at him. He used to hug me when I came home. He liked playing how high can I make girls jump. I would back the truck into the parking spaces. He would wait for them to pass like a good boy. Then give them his ferocious bark sequence. If they jumped and squeaked. He had fun. Dog humor. I told a few girls to go over and say "Stubby you are good boy" and put out your hand and then he will lick it. He liked girls. I guess the hands taste good.

She's very vocal and we have lots of conversations. I cannot imagine my life without her, she's my best friend. Loved watching your video. x

We've had huskies (usually three at a time) for over forty years now. To us, there could be no other dog breed that brings us such joy. But they do in fact need a lot of exercise, attention, grooming and most of all patience. They are extremely strong willed, and only mind when it benefits them. So if you can't handle all of these things, consider a different breed. But if you have huskies and are delighted with them, then you are very lucky indeed!
@minkorrh2 жыл бұрын
People shouldn't own them if they don't have have an acreage without 'seasons'. These dogs thrive in the cold, obviously as they are work dogs that were bred for such an environment. They don't need grooming if they are treated as they were bred. The internet has done the worst to every animal breed, and people have a difficult time not being stupid when it comes to animals.

It is truly beautiful when you see a home where a pet feels truly settled and loved to be themselves and have their own personality. My nephew has two cats and honestly I never knew cats can interact with humans just like dogs do, they always look so happy. They are brother and sister from the same litter, I’ve never seen them hiss or fight with one another, unless playfully and when one leave the room, they will actually meow the other to come. I’m not a cat person, but I can watch my nephew’s cats for hours, they are so lovely and like dogs in their behaviour. The husky is a character for sure but a happy chappy. I ❤️ this video

Oh yes. Cats do interact with their family. They are given a reputation of being aloof but not so. Our cat Puss would hang with my husband like a dog and would obey on command. Someone thought that we trained him. No, Puss was just a family member.

I teared up when you said he misses his sister. I also didn’t want a dog either because of the amount of work involved in caring for a dog. My husband convinced me to go to a shelter to ‘check out’ the dogs. We came home with said dog (shepherd/akita mix) after visiting him again on 2nd day because he was going to be put down. He was returned 2x. We have had him now for 7+years and he’s also very food motivated (we are too) so he came to the right home. He also sheds all the time. But, more than anything, he’s our blessing. He’s helped us through some difficult moments.

Jackson is too hilarious and adorable! I am sad to hear that he lost his sister. I know all too well that the worst part of having a dog is having to say goodbye to them. My husband and I lost our beloved poodle in 2014. Loki was almost 15. It about killed me when he passed away because for over 13 years, he was our "baby". Hubby was online looking for adoptable dogs. I didn't know if I was ready for another one so soon. But I found out just how sad it was to come home to NO dog to greet you and say "I love you and am so happy you are home!" So less than two weeks later, we brought home a basenji/Siberian husky mix we named Freyja because she's so sweet and so beautiful!

A Husky is what we got for my father who said, "No dog, ever again," after his 'best ever' dog died. It was funny to listen to them talk to each other. When we finally had to take the Husky, aged 14, to be euthanized she was quite ill and had to ride in the back of the pickup truck so the interior of the car would not be ruined. My father rode to the vets in the bed of the truck with the dog.
