You have no idea what his circumstances were. Looks like he was trying to get in.

@@SkyMyers-s1j Like i said, i have sailed for 11 years, even as beginner, YOU LOOK UP WEATHER FORECAST well ahead of your trip. It is called PLANNING.

He was at anchor and it was not his boat.

I live near there. Why the hell was the guy even out on the water in those conditions?

He may have been anchored and broke free?? Doesn't seem like a reason for the coast guard

Saving a life or 2 is not the job of the Coast Guard?!?! Wonder what you would have thought if it was you in the boat??@@brentjeralds777

That boat and another it was tied off to have been anchored in Port Townsend Bay for weeks. Previously they dragged anchor and the same boat washed up at Kala Point. Now this. Yes, kudos to the Coast Guard and Sheriffs Deputies! But unseaworthy vessels like this that wash ashore and sink are a hazard to folks living on them, to first responders, and to the marine environment. The owners rarely have the financial resources for salvage and cleanup. Under WA State law, the Dept of Natural Resources which manages the States tidelands and sea bed gets stuck with the bill. In the past 4 years there have been 8 vessel sinkings and groundings in south PT Bay.

The real story. I don’t know why they don’t go deeper in the bay other than their engines don’t work.

Thanks for clarifying what actually happened here. This account more closely lines up with what I suspected all along that it was poorly anchored to begin with.

If you are not an expert experienced sailor in Heavy Winds it is not advisable to go out when small craft advisories, gales, storms, or hurricanes. I have been out in 47 knots of wind in the Strait of Wanda Puka at night, but we were experts with experienced crew, and it still was physically and mentally a challenge.

Endangering himself, and worse his dog. Even saying he’s dog doesn’t like water. I’ve sailed often with my dogs, but NEVER when conditions were overwhelming.

Why'd he have his sails up?? Ffs

All he had todo is step ashore.

I can believe how dumb this is. They need a CG rescue Swimmer? They need to deploy a helicopter at $6500/hr? He ran aground. You can just walk to shore, like the person walking out to the boat.

That was a super intense rescue ,the water was almost waist deep 😈😂
