Ok guys let me just say my 2cents. The blokes in the video are great bloke's. Care free and having fun. Ngkala hasn't seen rain in a long time, don't be fooled it's softest is been in a long time. The sand is so hot . You set your tyres at 15 psi and with in a few minutes the air has expanded and your sitting on 20 psi. I personally tested this. Yes anybody can fang it though but they stopped in the worst spot and tried to recover a mate. Anybody can get a run up and get though, but you try and recover somebody in that spot. FYI the bloke in the 76 series was running 6psi to recover them in the end. Hope this paint's a better picture of what went on. In the end it makes for bloody good entertainment, enjoy.
@offroadingfoz5 жыл бұрын
inskip action should have been 6psi to begin with if it’s those sort of conditions. Just don’t try turning wheels hard or you’ll bead a tyre.

Off Roading in the sand 101 A) Pack a good tire gauge, air compressor, Jack, tools and recovery gear. B) Air down before hitting the soft sand and not from40 to 30PSI. 15 or lower and don't make fast tuns. C) keep your momentum up at a responsible speed, remember you are not the only one on the sand. D) Don't spin your tires down and get high center. F) Use low range most of the time and always when recovering.
@adam039574 жыл бұрын
Mike Erwin high range can provide less torque at once and subsequently less load to the sand, low range when recovering I agree with though. If you get bogged your pressures too high, 10, 8, 4 psi if you have too, you still have to inflate it so why be a hero and leave them high and still be bogged.
@mac77414 жыл бұрын
@@adam03957 I agree with the less torque in high range, but I like using the right pedal to control the torque in low range. I like my automatic transmission Jeep, that way up or down shifting is no problem. Sounds like we agree that Air pressure is the number one thing for sand running .

What ever happened to the concept of making sure the obstacle is clear , before sending another vehicle through? They are displaying a complete lack of 4WD knowledge. You should have to pass a 4WD skills test before being allowed on the island. The thing is anyone can go into to a car dealership and buy an expensive 4WD these days, and then think they can drive it anywhere, especially when it is an automatic. We parked & watched them all day. Was great fun. When my friends & I decided to drive it ourselves later on in the day it was easy as. Correct pressures & correct revs. I honestly can’t understand how people can get stuck in it. I’ve driven Ngkala a fair few times and never been bogged there. For the rest of the world of whom are watching, the standard Australian uniform for men when camping and travelling out and about consist of the following items. Shirt, either short or long sleeve, A pair of shorts, A pair of thongs/flip flops/ jandals, but the official name for such foot wear is in fact, "Thongs", and its nothing to do with a female G string, A decent hat to keep the sun off, A good pair of glasses to keep the glare out, (and to conceal your identity when you're looking at someone and don't want to be identified) A beer in one hand.
