The whole beach is salt, and if you're on Fraser you're going to be throwing Salted sand all over your car for a week. Feel the paint, it will have salt-crystals - windows covered in salt-spray - the whole underside will be covered in salted sand - on top of the battery, on the air-box - anywhere. In Short, don't worry about the surf, and realise you can't avoid it on Fraser, there are many rocks to drive-around that have impractical tracks. A lot of people from cold countries worry about the surf because they have rust experience from Salted Roads - but those same people don't wash the underside of their Cars in Winter - months of stuck salt. The underbody-car-wash at Rainbow Beach blasts all the salt off.

Depends on the car Patrols and landcruisers have helical cut reverse gears. I've never heard of any of them blowing reverse from snatching. I dragged a 20 000 litre water tank with a snatch in my patrol. Slammed the fucker a few dozen times. Bent my bullbar and partially tore part of the chassis but the gearbox was fine. The diffs can sometimes blow though.

Why rename? If any of the "original owners" are "Fair Dinkum honest" they should obviously first change and use their own "Black Names" instead of brandishing their "Culturally Expropriated" English names! But nope, instead they rather see everyone else being forced to see a change to their traditional and beautiful sounding name for this great sand island, Fraser Island! Go figure.... I speak the truth and I say that like Fraser Island, there are no other true names, only fantasies and modern P.C. fabrications. How could they? We all know that even today many traditional "bush babies" do not know their fathers name or have birth certificates because their mothers didn't register them. Sadly this "renaming" i.e. Orwellian "new-speak" is a shameless lie. Don't be stupid, the "new" sand island name (I will not speak), is a modern political fabrication that has never been known or used. No documentation, no verification or historic facts are provided because there are none. It is another "Black Emu fabrication" made up for populist political P.C. reasons. Fraser Island is the only known good name of this great sand island and should remain so in memory of shipwrecked Eliza Anne Fraser who survived brutal enslavement and had her compatriots savagely slaughtered by the Badtjalas who speared her husband in front of her. Let's be honest... Thy name is "Fraser Island" christened in James Fraser's own blood on the sand. Do not forget!

@CantBeFucked694203 жыл бұрын
If it's 2 hours either side of low tide you can time it between the waves and not get any splashing. And when the alternative is waiting 2 hours because 2 people are stuck either way, it's a lot easier to go in the surf and stop by the carwash at Rainbow for 5 minutes. You won't avoid all of the salt; between the sea spray, Eli, and the sand, you're going home and giving the car a good wash anyway. It's better off to drive Ngkala inland than the beach, but better the beach than wait 2 hours for the inland. I was there with my dad, I had my L's and needed the hours so I drove during the trip. On the way up someone was stuck on the inland track and we'd have been waiting for an hour to get through, so I drove over the rocks. Low tide means there was a big enough gap where the water didn't reach and I had no problems getting through. 3 hours later on the way back down, a Ute was parked on its frame right around the bend on the North end. Dad wanted me to drive the inland track, so we waited for an hour. We got tired of waiting, so I gunned it up the right track, but it didn't quite make it. Tried another couple times, even dad tried, didn't make it, so we got his mate to move out of the way so we could pull them out. I jumped back in the drivers seat and was a bit frustrated myself, so I locked the rear diff, put it in 2 low and went. By the time I'd gotten to the bend I was in fourth and roosting like mad. Got through in 3rd, and I'm pretty sure dad was proud because he got on the 2-way and kept calling "L plater got through, gents!" I still don't know how people get stuck there, a 16 year old with 40 hours in a 3 tonne GQ got through no problem.
