Over the years I dated two men who lived with their mother. It soon became apparent that my house became the clubhouse. If we were just going to hang out, it was always at my place. We didn't go to his place because mama was there. Now maybe this wouldn't bother some women, but it bothered me. He was able to maintain a private physical space for himself in the relationship, but I did not have that same option. My space became our space, but his space was off limits. Just felt imbalanced.

I’m a woman and I ride my bike, and public transit to work and live with my mom. I wouldn’t date anyone right now because I need to focus on my grind. A lot of people nowadays get in relationships because they need help not love, why should I be cuddled up under you when I gotta wake you up in 20 minutes to take me to work? It isn’t fair to put that burden on your “lover”. I see relationships like owning a cat/dog I have 2 pets and we’re able to feed them, groom them and live them so we have them, I don’t have a car, my own place or the spare change to upkeep a relationship. My husband lived with his mom when we started dating. The difference is he stayed there to help his family after his step- father died. He held a salaried position at his job, paid his mother $800/month for rent, paid his own car note, and was helping his 19yr old sister with his 2yr old nephew. But believe this, within a year he had proposed and shortly thereafter HE went out and found a place for US to live. It's not that we don't want men who live at home with their mothers, it's the lack of responsibility and accountability that usually accompanies men like that.

I knew a man who lived with his mom and had no problem getting dates. He worked fulltime and she was a single mom with no other living relatives. Him living there enabled her to live a better lifestyle in a safer neighborhood. He did his fair share of chores. They did eat lots of meals together where she cooked but he was self sufficient physically and was actually benefiting her financially. She was a respectful wonderful woman who never interfered in his relationships. Men that choose to semi-permanently live with their moms give a sense of no ambition to be self sufficient. I’ve seen men live with their moms and female relatives and be gainfully employed enough to afford an apartment, a room for rent, or even can pool their money together to be roommates with eachother. But they don’t. In each instance, the arrangement of living with their mom or female relative (grandma, aunt, etc.) allows them to use their money for vices. Heavy drinking, video games, drug consumption, partying, traveling via Spirit. Even the ones who pay some bill or rent of some sort don’t commit to a consistent pay schedule, never paying on time or in full. Because Mommy dearest will and can forgive them unlike the Uncle or male roommate that’d kick them out. A man with that lack of ambition or the opportunistic mindset to do that to the only woman that was raised to unconditionally love you is NOT a viable partner.

gonna say this, i was 19 he was 38, he had his own place and car when i met him little did i know it was all a facade and we ended up in an apartment IN MY NAME (bc his credit was ass and he was a felon- told me it was his past) he ended up beating on me in my first ever apartment I OWNED and didn’t pay the rent, i had to leave for my safety, my life, i tried to tell the apartments, my neighbors, his friends, they didn’t care he was beating me bloody, so i fled the state while he was at work…. that’s these men, watch out!! i’m now 22, got away with my life!! and no kids luckily bc he also traps women, he had 3 babymommas trapped and tried to trap me!

Another reason women avoid men who still living at home is we know that that this translates to "I am incapable of looking after myself, or unwilling and I will expect the women I date to do all the things my mother does for me and more". Never get with a man who has never lived independently. Find a man who has his own home and is house proud. Otherwise you WILL become his mother, his maid, his cook, his cleaner and his bed friend. Finally, avoid men who have kids out of marriage. It means he lacks commitment.

The children don’t live with him which means their mother bears the workload of feeding, housing and clothing them. CS doesn’t even come close to half of what the custodial parent spends on the children. The baby mama probably put him out which is why he’s back to living with his mom. Also, while he was providing his take on single mothers with more than one child, he was standing between two Amazon delivery vans. I bet the type of women he’s hoping to date are the kind he’s delivering packages to who have a certain aesthetic and their own apartment/home.

Before I got married and had kids I refused to date men with children. What the hell do I look like taking on a man with baggage. God forbid I'm no longer married or something happens to my husband I don't think I'm entitled to have men without kids date me. In fact I think I would rather have a man with kids who is actually involved in his own kids lives to date me. Not some man who calls himself a father and not really involved in his own children's lives. Secondly, I think he would understand the situation better and understand what it is like to have children and make them a priority.
