When you return to your homeland, you only can have purchased stuff for a certain amount, without paying tax. Its to insure all nations have equal playingfield, prevent whitewash and prevent people buy abroad and create an underground marked. Typically you can bring stuff taxfree for around 800 dollars. If you buy for more than that, you have to pay tax on it in your homeland. And even if this girl was right - the rings only 5500 ,- she owes a lot in tax. And bringing empty ringboxes visible in scans and wearing rings of cause is alarming
