@@SK-rr4qy The whole lot of officers appears to treat it like a fun trip to the beach rather than a serious investigation/check... One officer is playing with a fold-out club, another is just escalating and confrontational... A very simple situation turned into a mess by officers not trained in street work... Also I don't really get how this would be legal, they just walk up to a random person who they think is foreign, that just has racial profiling screaming all over it which is and was back then too, very illegal in Europe and an easy way to get your officer career short-ended... Seems like a little project from an over-enthusiastic customs and immigration office manager really, send out some untrained/undertrained officers and hope to catch a 'Bin Laden' and make headlines for being the officer who caught some major criminal... I highly doubt any of this would be legal within Europe, I highly doubt this stop was legal in the UK either, though it appears at least in the UK, customs officers can enter a home without a warrant as long as they have permission from their supervisor so they do appear to have significantly more power than the standard police officer.

@@mehmeh533 First of all, despite the extremely long waitlists and strict requirements for immigration, I agree that people need to enter legally. However, your statement that undocumented workers “hurt the citizens” and “bring in nothing for the country” is actually extremely false. If you check actual statistics and facts, undocumented workers bring in a lot of tax revenue & help the economy: mostly taking low-paying, unfavorable jobs that most first-world citizens would not want. Agreed 100%. It's also much safer to carry passports for family instead of sending by mail or even DHL to those parts of the world as they are routinely stolen. And no doctor can be currently registered if they stopped practicing for even a few years. At least give him the option to pay for an escort to another airport to catch his flight. Why do they use complex sentences like, "We need you to stop what you are doing at the moment"? They are dealing with people who may have only a few words of English. Say, "Stop. Immigration." And learn the words "documents" and "papers" in English and other languages that don't use the word "identification" but words like "documents" or "papers", which is more common language.
@eliz_scubavn10 ай бұрын
A word like ‘documents’ or ‘papers’ could refer to ordinary everyday items and could be even more confusing for someone with limited English. Meanwhile words like ‘identity card’ or ‘passport’ are much simpler and to the point. I do agree they do speak too fast and with too complex grammar for people to understand. Sometimes I struggle to understand and I have native English.
