My first time hearing you say you are full time fireman. Kudos on that. 50 years ago, before joining the U.S.M.C. , I was a fireman for two years, so I can truly appreciate your work there. I do watch several other yard men, but I enjoy yours best. There is just something about your work that strikes me better. Seems like the majority of the overgrown yards are on corner lots, meaning more trimming/ edging. I wonder if that is why so many let them get out of hand, too much trim work.

To do your daily lawn work, i understand that you must make preparations before you even leave home. Drinks, lunch, fuel containers full in the truck and mowers, etc... all batteries charged and ready to go. Ensure all hand tools are in good order and in place on the truck.. rakes etc. Then you obviously have to choose a property to tidy up, usually it seems a corner block. Once all is good, you leave home and then travel to said chosen property, however long it takes, allowing for road traffic and the weather. Only then, may you begin the actual work for the day, edging, sweeping, blowing the grass back onto the lawn, mowing, raking, filling the mower catcher and in turn, the huge grass clippings bags. Then you may have to move items on the property, wheelie bins, bbqs, rubbish and trash, outdoor furniture, push bikes, old machinery such as lawn mowers. Don't forget to wind up the ubiquitous Hills Hoist..lol. Then you must watch out for any wildlife, both friendly and not so friendly. Gosh Tim, I'm tired just typing this out... how you manage to keep smiling I don't know, I would run out of energy very quickly if I did your work. Then at the end of the day, there is the journey back home, refilling fuel tanks ready for tomorrow, recharging batteries, showering and feeding yourself then relaxing before retiring for the night.. if you are not called out to attend and quell the famous aussie bushfires, not a job for the fainthearted... bless you and all your wonderful work ethics.. is all I can say. Joh.
