Total walk around video of a Cranberry red 1970 SS396 that was purchased for a whopping 250 bucks in 1979. The car was raced many times at the Super Chevy Shows in the 1990s.

I’ve known the owner practically all my life. I still consider him one of my oldest friends. This car has been a fixture as long as I can remember. Great video and great car!!!!

I have a buddy here in Fredericksburg VA who has a 70 ss454 turbo 400 stripe delete setting in his garage going to waste and his original 1969 Gold ss396 turbo 400 also going to waste in his front not covered up either. A shame. Glad this guy preserving his baby.

Wow! That car is a gem! All of the changes seem rather beneficial given the year of the car and making it more enjoyable. The tape deck is the most obvious of changes to people who are unfamiliar with the 1970 production. Back then, an 8 track would have been the cats meow... Love your videos! Please keep up the great work!

That is an awesome car! Great video as they always are. I wish you would fire up the engine, on the cars that will crank and run. There ain't nothing that sounds any better than a big block Chevy at idle with a solid lifter cam!

Patrick, I owned a 1970 Chevelle SS 396, I was a 4th owner ! It was a factory Rep. drove it for a bit ! He sold it to his nephew, when he was able to sell it, the nephew name was Mick Kruse ! He only drove it for a short time, he decided to trade it in at White Chevrolet in Lima, Ohio ! The dealership didn’t want to give him the money that he wanted for the trade ! The salesman bought the car, so he could make the sale on his new Camaro ! The salesman name was Terry Swaney ! That night Terry called me and said I have a car for you ! When I saw the Car I new who owned it and how it was cared for ! I bought the Car but had to put it in my Mom’s name because of my car insurance ! I sold it in November of 1972, because I bought a new 1973 Cutlass ! I have no Vin Number or the title to it ! I have been looking for this car for several years ! I tried finding it with my Tags, they were reserved tags ! I went to the title dept. with the tag number and they told me that I sold 2 years to early to trace the title with the tag ! The person that I sold it to his name was Danny Corwin ! Can you help me I have ran out of options ! It was Factory Silver with Black stripes Cowl Hood and Automatic on the floor with console ! Thank you

In 79 $250 would get you a 70 Chevelle, today it would buy a correct washer bottle. LOL Great car, great story, some day your going to see my father in law's and knock the socks off the Patrick Glen Nickels Muscle car fans. We're at 39000 miles on it and still runs/drive like new. Thanks Pat, can't wait to see what you have to show us next.💪

I'm guilty of 2 bonehead decisions from my younger days. When I was 16 (I'm 57 now) I sold a 67 RS camaro convertible with the rare power windows and original drivetrain for $75, and my ignorance didn't stop there. I also had a 65 Impala SS that was all original. The ignition was hanging from the dash and I had to start it with a screwdriver, and one day I was out driving in the pouring rain, and I mean it was coming down in buckets, and as I'm driving the ignition that was hanging would sway back and forth, but on this day one of the wires made contact with metal on the dash and shorted out and fried the ignition. There I am stranded on the side of the road when a gentleman pulls up and tried to help, but this was beyond a quick roadside repair and would have to be towed, and did I mention that the rain was coming down in buckets? I was so frustrated and didn't have but a couple dollars to my name, and I asked the guy if he would be interested in buying it for $100. He offered me $65, I accepted his offer, and he gave me a ride home. It was his problem now....so I thought at the time. The very next day what did I see cruising around town? You guessed it,none other than my 65 Impala SS.

Reminds me of my 70 SS 396 from Kansas City. Original Cranberry Red on black, domed hood, 4spd, bench seat car. No PS, no a/c. I bought my car in 1993 and is was an ex drag car with ladder bars, TH400, 4.56 gears, line lock and a 6 pt. roll cage. The previous owner radiused and flared the quarters to fit bead lock 29x12.5 M/T Sportmans on Centerlines.
