Yeah. Porters are the reason we can get food at Panalaban. These guys ascend 6km with food water and gas tanks on their back wearing crocs and slippers. Truly amazing people

Sometimes their services are needed to carry injured climbers or unable to continue the journey down to Pondok Timpohon. In a week they climb 4 -5 times and paid RM4-6 per/kg..4 hours to climb and an hour and a half to go down.. And respect also to "Malim Gunung" who risked their lives to save the climbers who were stranded on the mountain during the earthquake on June 5, 2015.. Respect to these people!

@@jokohandalan6605 as far as I know, RM13 per kg for a minimum of 10 kg of climbing equipment. For accommodation supplies RM4-6 per kilogram. It would be nice if their salaries were increased 😊😊😊

I've seen one time they carry a 1.8l water tank, wooden board as long as 20 ft , roofing sheets , gas tank and rice bags. I climbed Mt Kinabalu I think 7 time and they still amazed me everytime with their hardwork and harder load.

it was yr 2005... i started my climb from timpohon to laban rata with these porters...after few hundred meters they were literally out of sight. few hrs later i saw them came down fast via stone hopping while i was still mid way. and then the mind blowing part just few hundred meters frm reaching laban rata, the same group of porters went passed me again for their 2nd trip!

One of the main reasons why we can go to Mount Kinabalu is because we have enough energy through being fed with the food and drinks that they brought up to Panalaban. Just a simple Hi to any porters or mountain guides is an honor to you as the hiker

I used to work as a porter, its an open job for anyone which means you can go there and apply it on that day, carry the supply to the laban rata and get pay base on how much weight you carry that day. On my day I only carry 20kg of stuff and man that is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life 😂, big respect for this man here and all my porter friend.

Sometimes I carry gas. Yup, those LPG gas tanks are heavy. A small full tank is 60 lbs (27.2 kg)

I developed a knee pain going up this mountain. The Porter offered me to piggy back on him for RM200..back in 2008. I declined. I was embarrassed. But on the way down ..halfway..my knee was totally bust. Had to Piggy back.

I climbed mount K on 2019 with nothing on me accept a bag for 1.5l water.. and climbed to 6km from starting point in 6 hour.. But this awesome porter climbed it with 20-30kg load on the back and can reach the 6km on 3-4 hour..

Exactly, credits should be given to the PORTERS. All their hard work & sacrifices throughout circumstances in their work yet never complain & stay behind the lime light. In fact, I bet stereotypes climbers couldn’t even beat their capabilities. Awesome PORTERS!! Up & down the mountain everyday throughout the unpredictable climates ❤❤😢🫡🫡 yet.. tourist & the urban locals complaining the price charges of food, supplies & other essentials up there.
