We just outclassed "the best team in PL history" tactically and physically in almost every single department. And people STILL want Erik out? I for one will never forgive Ratcliffe and co. if they fire Erik after instilling discipline back in our club while winning two cups. For last 11 years we won 5 cup trophies. Here we won 2 cup trophies in 2 seasons. Progression takes time. There is no guarantee the next manager will challenge City or will finish in higher in the table forget about trophies. Eth should given another Season to lead Manutd.

The performances in the League and Europe are the ones that count. Cup runs are almost incidental in comparison. If a coach can't get his team to play dominant football in the two years he has been here, then you have to move on from him. We've been outplayed in general play by too many small clubs to have ETH in charge of the rebuild under the new regime in charge of the United football department. One great game doesn't change that.

If only Varane could stay fit for more than 4 games in a row, he is a Rolls Royce of a defender. I think we have recently seen what we hoped for from Amrabat, I think he would be worth keeping as a squad player for next season, given the bargain price we can have hm for. This performance just shows what we can do when there is a stable, competent and confident back 4. Good finish to a rubbish season overall.

The first half was absolutely brilliant and everyone deserved a 9 for that performance. For the overall ratings, how on Earth can you give Onana an 8? His big blunder got United into problems instead of playing out a relatively comfortable last 10 minutes. Every other keeper in the Prem would have saved that shot, but Onana has a chronic problem with low shots towards the corners when he is often too slow getting down. The defensive structures with fully committed and disciplined players were superb. ETH did very well, but this one game doesn't wipe away all the crap we've had to witness, so I'm still ETH out. This style of football can work against City because they will try to dominate you, but against many other clubs United has to make the play, which they have been unable to do in the two years under ETH. I have long suspected that Ratcliffe made the decision that ETH is not the man to get United to play the type of football that is expected from a big club like United, and he has therefore been a dead man walking. I think Ratcliffe is too pragmatic to allow one glorious game to cloud his judgement. It is too risky to have ETH to serve out his contract when the first year of the complete rebuild gets underway.

Today was proof that if you can stop the supply, Haaland becomes a passenger in the game. And when the odd one gets through to him, Licha has shown he's strong and good enough to stop Haaland. Every game that Licha has played against Haaland, he's mostly come out on top. Imagine that. We've got a good base to build on actually. Onana, Licha, Dalot, Mainoo, Fernandes, Garnacho and Hojlund. And if the following players are willing to be a squad player, then also fairly good depth - AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, McTominay, Amad. INEOS needs to make a few astute signings this summer to complete the team and step up from this cup win. Rashford needs to improve his consistency if he wants to stay. Mount needs to stay fit, and Antony either has to improve drastically or be sold.

Keep ETH. In this transition period, 2 cups out of 3 finals in first 2 seasons is mire than acceptable. Sir Alex need 4 seasons to get first silverware and those league positions in between were bad as well. Give ETH time to see what kind of development he would bring. i love that he said if the club don't want him he'll just keep winning trophies somewhere else. They can't sack him after this, surely? It's not about being judged on one game, it's about getting most of the first team back and actually looking decent. This team, for all its faults, are a top four team if the squad is near fully fit. I'm tired of pundits going "yeah they've had injuries, but..." But what? When Liverpool lost VVD they fell off a cliff. When City lose Rodri, they lose. Newcastle had injuries but you don't hear the media giving Eddie Howe shit. But United? United are expected to perform no matter how many injuries they have. Even when the evidence of Varane and Martinez's return making us better is staring the vultures in the face they come out with the same old shit. Where was this all season, they ask. On the injury list, that's where. To win two trophies in two years and to beat your two biggest rivals on your way to winning this one when your squad has been in bits all season is remarkable. No, 8th isn't good enough but how higher in the table could we have been if we had Varane and Martinez? If INEOS sack ten Hag then all the good will they've generated will be shattered and they'll be labelled as Glazers 2.0.
