But Jamie carragher also played at top level for long time. Doesn’t mean he was unbelievable and every would want him in their team. Gary Neville was slow and couldn’t beat a man with the ball. Neville spent his entire career in an elite, trophy hoarding team, during which time many players who were world class in their own right were either sold on, or just didn't make the cut. Gary Neville was not just an average player in a great team. He was a player stood the test of time in an elite team. That can't just be dismissed.

I think Rashford as well. You don’t go from a 30 goal season to being a bad player next season. And you don’t do it on your own. Often players has fluctuations in their outputs: Giggs goes 13 goals to 1 early on. Scholes had a run 14, 9, 2 in the Premier League. And these guys were in a team overflowing in goal-scorers. Fantastic video. I totally agree. Neville was the best full back of his time in the league. One of Englands best too. He did the basics to a high class level. Great crosser of the ball. Highly intelligent on the field, and as tough as they come.

Very very solid player. Knew his role and did it exceptionally. Bled for the team.. and was basically a Moneyball player. Respect due. From a Liverpool player.

Liverpool fan here. Big respect to Gary for his footy skills and his social conscience

8 minutes of perfection. Thank you for this, as a UTD fan who grew up watching Neville during those prime years, it's so cringy watching him get disrespected every so now and then by players who have not had the career he has had, dare I say lesser players...

NEVILLE IS A LEGEND SIMPLE AS THAT I WOULDNT OF CHANGED HIM AT UTD EITHER HE PLAYED FOR THE BADGE EVERY GAME HES CRIMINALY UNDER RATED

Awesome and eye opening video. I'll admit I was one who disrespected him too because everyone else was doing it. But your points are 100% true. He wouldn't have survived that long in United if he wasn't that good

Villa fan here and Gary Neville was simply a quality full back for years at the top level. More respect is needed

Gary was to that United team what Phil Neal was to his Liverpool team two decades earlier. Both very good, underrated players who delivered every game.

I really hope he watches this. ❤ I forgot how good his crosses were, was always pinging bangers. Absolute legend of the game, deserves a lot more praise.

It was underrated players like Gary Neville, Dennis , Irwin, Butt, Park that allowed the attacking players to thrive..Proper legends in their own rights

This is brilliant !!! I've been thinking this for years!! People commenting on Gary Neville, who aren't fit to tie his boots. Great video, very well made.

Great video and echoes my feelings precisely. It genuinely annoys me that other players feel so confident in dismissing Neville and worse that Gary allows it to happen. The best right back I've seen at United in my 40 years watching them, would get in my all time 11 and one of the top 5 full backs in Premier League history easily. A great, great player.

Respect for making this video Sam. It really irks me when people including Gary himself as you rightly pointed out downplays his career and achievements. A true legend.
