A simple logical solution is to just have a £200-£300M spending cap for all the PL clubs each season. But, the red cartel clubs don’t want to do that because they want to spend more money and prevent others from doing it.

There is an element of truth to the fact that the historically big clubs with greater revenue want to protect their position via these new rules. Also true that the franchises bought by nation state owned huge money organizations like Citeh and NEW ALSO want a wide open financial playing field with no rules at all so that THEY can dominate and have an unfair advantage. Everyone is acting on self interest versus the long term good of the game. A cap that is a fixed % of LEGIT revenue sources ( e.g. revenue from sources not tied to ownership ) is as close as you are ever going to get to "fair" IMHO. The bigger historical + nation state clubs simply won't ever agree to giving up ALL their current advantages and implement a hard cap that truly puts everyone on a level playing field. In point of fact ... while English football fans will never admit this as they are too tribal and embedded into their traditions ... a hard cap would ultimately allow for TONS of annual movement up and down the standings. Thereby far more interest and an increase in the overall fan base. This is why the NFL is so competitive unpredictable on both a weekly + annually basis. Yet .. the best run teams both in the back office and in terms of; scouting + game planning + prep, are still the ones that regularly make the playoffs and win post season.

Manchester City took the Premiere league to court over the ATP rules saying they were Unlawful, the outcome was Man City won on 3 counts of ATP rules being Unlawful. As a quote from the outcome i'll leave this here. As per: "The ATP Rules...have been found to be unlawful,as a matter of competition law and public law. This means that they (ATP Rules) are void and NOT capable of enforcement.This has very significant consequences for ATP's that have been entered into date and ATP's that are currently being negotiated by clubs".

@@Independent-Revolutionary you think one paragraph out of a 174 page document is proof City won? The ATP laws were actually deemed in most every case to be a worthwhile concept. The only thing that was deemed unlawful was with regards to shareholder loan exclusions, which has nothing to do with their 115 cases, and the suggestion that the ATP rules were discriminatory against City was effectively thrown in the bin. The rules regarding shareholder loan exclusions is fairly easy to fix, and not a massive problem for clubs beyond maybe Brighton and Everton. Beyond that, City have no foundation for their defence against the 115 charges, as its been proven that the PL DID NOT discriminate, nor were the rules aimed at curtailing their ambition. That and the rules which City broke, repeatedly, for years, are all rules THEY agreed to, including the APT.

Actually a majority of the rules were deemed a worthwhile concept, what was deemed unlawful was shareholder loan exclusions, which is an issue that minorly effects a few clubs, and something that is easily remedied - as well as having absolutely nothing to do with City’s main claim that the Fair Market Value rules are discriminatory against them, which City failed to convince the panel of. But make no mistake, City don’t care about the shareholder loan exclusions, this lawsuit was an attempt to build a foundation for their defence of their 115 charges, mainly that the rules were only there to discriminate against gulf owned clubs .. which they now cannot do because the panel threw these accusations in the trash. It’s not a good result for City.

Mark thing is ffp and psr are restricting clubs to their own detriment and clubs competitiveness in the league as clubs are having to sell players to make psr rules which is making clubs weaker and having to sell players who could become valuable and preventing clubs from having squads able to healthily play the players over a season and compete! Psr is a joke and the ffp rules are just not feasible! A club should be able to spend the amount they have coming in through yearly profits end of story the psr bullshit is just a joke! A club shouldn't be forced to sell players to make extra profits just to reach a psr ruling only players they wish to sell for profit to make way for other players no other reasons! If a club act irresponsibly and goes bankrupt it's their own fault and poor management by the clubs structure.

It was suggested not too long ago but surprise, surprise the only clubs not in favour of it are the ones owned by nation states with unlimited money. It's not just about rich people pumping money into a club.The difference between Rich americans (or Russians) pumping money in and a Petro-state pumping money in is that the Rich owners eventually want to see return on investment, which is a good thing, and basic business 101. The problem with Petro states is that they don't care about profits, and this inflates wages and prices to levels that no other properly run club can compete.
