A New York man with special needs who was wrongfully convicted of murder walked free after spending 25 years in prison in what officials called a "systemic failure." "I told y'all I didn't do this!" Andrew Hatchett told reporters as he walked out of Brooklyn Supreme Court on Thursday. "I'm so happy to be free again," he said. Hatchett was convicted of the 1991 killing of Neda Mae Carter, 38, whose naked and beaten body was found in Monroe Street Park in Bedford-Stuyvesant. #InsideEdition

this isn’t a win, he lost 25 years of his life and gained nothing but the freedom he always deserved

Hes smiling & gets to be with his family doesnt have to die behind bars if that's not a win idk. It's a bitter sweet victory but a victory none the less. Let's just hope now all the wrongfully convicted prisoners dont have to wait as long as he did to be exonerated

well i can understand that he's Happy. Imagine waiting for a Friend. But he's like 30 mins late. You tell yourself that when he arrives your gonna give him a piece of your mind. But when he finally arrives your so relieved that you don't have to wait any longer you just forgot about your Anger.

+BigVStudio New York State has a fund that will pay 80K for every year incarcerated.. As far as being tax free, who knows. Texas has a similar fund. For state governments to even have these types of funds in their system is really telling of what they really know of the innocent being railroaded to prison with flawed prosecutions and corrupt law enforcement tactics.
