Nope. I just read about them when I saw this video. They make lousy pets. They can't be potty-trained and they scent-mark their territory. So they live in a cage. And it's never recommended to buy only one of them. They're highly social and need other marmosets.

Back in the late 60's you could buy a Spider Monkey for almost nothing and there were almost no regulations. A classmate owned one and it got loose outside. It stayed up in the trees in his yard, but wouldn't come down to him. So, he just put food and water out for it and it stayed around. But, when winter came he found the little guy laying on the ground frozen solid!

I get the monkey's not legal to be kept as a pet, but we have to consider the fact that it was.. the guy just moved to the area, so if he came from somewhere he was allowed to have this monkey, there's no telling how long he's had it or how domesticated the monkey is.. wild marmosets may need to be in the wild, but this marmoset is probably missing his daddy, and his daddy is definitely missing him.. IDC if I were in the wrong for having the pet, if my neighbor's hasty actions of calling authorities before asking around with neighbors, I'd probably be leaving lit bags of fecal matter on his porch on the regular..
