I already do!! 4 ISA Brown hens. Angel, Thunder Chick, Stevie Chicks, and Black Betty. They are about 25 weeks old, and have been hand fed and snuggled since they were 2 weeks old. I've started to harness and leash train them, and the bonds these girls have formed with me and my children is remarkable.. they run to us when they see us, and fly up onto our arms, and jump into our laps for kisses and cuddles. They groom us, take naps purring in our laps, and follow us around while we tend to their coop.

She had fallen off of Tyson chicken transport truck, as there is a plant a few miles from me. She was so gentle, and let me pick her up. Her beak had been damaged in the fall, so I fed her softened dog food, and as long as I kept her chicken feed deep enough, she could eat. She'd roost right next to my shoulder every night out on the porch and would even get on the big dog bed with my two big dogs! I loved her so much, and I still miss her terribly.

I would go sit back down on the couch and she would come trotting over and jump in my lap and nest. I loved enjoying my coffee while petting her and she would often fall asleep right in my lap. They crow to determine territory and warn others around that they are there. Going back to wild chickens, this is what roosters did to warn predators and other wild animals of their presence. Its like what many other animals do in the wild when they live in a family orientated situation. They crow mainly in the mornings because this is when all the hens get up off their perches and roosting branches and go to ground and search for food and become active and the roosters warn others that they are there or for others to stay away. Kind of like when you walk in the forest and you want to make noises so bears arent startled and attack by surprise. Or when you hear birds sing in the morning or during the day. A birds life like many other wildlife is constantly on high alert.

She is now well aware that people avoid learning about and interacting with these particular birds to keep it that way, too. If you convince yourself they are just "stupid animals," then you can continue to justify bad treatment and killing of the birds. She shows the reality and just how personable these birds really are, how capable they are of being companion animals, and how they form bonds in a human "flock." That has to be the silliest, happiest, content and most engaged bird I've EVER seen! I know chickens are pretty smart. Well, smarter than a pea fowl, anyway. And, I've seen them trained to do different activities or tricks, if you will. This little guy isn't just responding to a set of signals, but actively participating in these games of hide and seek, staying focused on finding his "bestie" without getting sidetracked. Such a cuddler, too!

So many amazing memories of me being at my grandpas growing up, always had a few chickens and the rooster Ralph. Never forgot that sweet feisty baby. He would fly at me when I got Millie's eggs. Sweet when he wanted to be and was my grandpa's heart. Then Popcorn, a white rooster when a baby would dance when you tapped on the table. Nothing could replace or buy the feelings of having those memories with my best friend and guide my grandpa Charles. Love this thank you for reminding me of such pure times ❤ Long Live the Roosters🐓

My mom had a pet rooster that she called Chicken! He was a Banty and so pretty! And he had quite the personality, was very fun and feisty. He loved to snuggle and would get right on our laps and lay there, loving being petted and even take naps! He liked to be out and about during the day, but every night a little before dusk, he would come to the door and crow and peck to be let in. She had a big box set up for him with door and a roost and he'd just march in there and go to bed! He died in a very sad way, though. He got on the fence next door and got killed by the neighbors dogs. Was very heartbreaking 😢

Chickens are ao underestimated. They are the most abused animals on the planet. But they are social animals. They form intense bonds with humans and also among their species. We don't give them enough credit. This is why I'm vegan-compassion for all animals.

@@julijakeit All meat is produced with the notion that animals are here for human use. And in the end of the day, they are killed for sensory satisfaction, not for necessity. Please, don't buy into the humane washing. Much better to move in the direction of a vegan lifestyle.

I have had many pet chickens, ducks, and geese over the years, and if you've been with these birds long enough, you have formed bonds with them like the bond in this video. After awhile, you come to realize that these birds are smarter, more full of character and emotion than most people could ever believe. I have had several standouts over the years, but they've all been dear little friends, and it breaks my heart when one of them dies. Koji is a very lucky chicken, and I hope he gets to live a long, happy life. He is clearly living his best life now. I'm glad he found his people!
