Welcome back to another Liveration video!
In this episode we interview Oli, who lives in a self built tinyhouse, off grid, in the Dorset countryside with his dog, Tala.
After years of traveling and returning to the UK, Oli begrudged paying the extortionate prices of rent and bills to stay in a fixed place and adopt the fast pace materialistic lifestyle that seems to naturally come with that.
So.... he built himself a stunning off grid TinyHome to dive into a simpler, slower pace of life, where minimalism and simplicity comes naturally.
We get a full tour of the land that Oli's trailer tiny home sits on, as well the outside and inside of this cozy home he has built for himself, it really is something to admire, the attention to detail that Oli has put into this build really makes it an inviting space of handcrafted beauty!
So DEFINITELY stick around for the inside tour!!
Thanks to Oli for sharing his story with us and showing us around his home!
Give Oli a follow to keep up with his adventures and business projects...

I'm 67 with only a state pension. The rent on my modest 2 bed house is £850 a month. With bills i'm paying nearly £1300 a month. Needless to say the modest amount of savings i have is rapidly depleting. Next month i'm moving into a brand new chalet on a farm for £450 a month including all bills! I only got this because a friend of mine has a holiday chalet there and the farmer will only take people that are recommended by his current tenants. Got zero help from my local council. Apparently working and paying tax for 52 years doesn't entitle me to anything more than my state pension.

Very impressive. Not just his amazing simplistic home, but his take on life and lifestyle. We could all learn from this chap. Somehow the way he frames it all, just makes sense. This young man is blessed and it's obvious from his comments that he works the land to help his mum out. Besides, it will be his inheritance one day. Lovely his mum is seeing him enjoy her gift. She is also seeing her son live independently. I hope she is proud of him. Also, it is clear he doesn't take any of this for granted. I'd be proud of him and I am happy for him. In today's world it is much harder for the young ones to have homes of their own. I wish them both all the best.

12V grid - I love it... I am an electric technician, and when i learned about solar back some years ago, I always thought 12, 24, 48 or even 96V busses are the most intelligent and efficient idea to power your small (off grid) home: The inverters are often noisy, they cost a lot and then they go bad way to soon. If you think about how much you can accomplish with only 12V, it is amazing. I am very delighted to see, how little space is actually needed one the roof to pull that all off... gratulations!

Oli said that society is not ok with this new style of living since it’s not contributing -I’m assuming he meant taxes and consumerist behaviour that keeps the wheels of economy spinning. Well I’m afraid that people with common sense understand that less pressure on the housing market preserves more valuable land and disperses populations across larger areas which benefits society and economies immeasurably . Also people like himself preserve the lands they live on and help the soils recover and be more productive. Such practices in pockets of agricultural land may influence neighbouring land owners and farmers to reduce use of chemicals. Well done Oli keep up the good work!

Human waste is great to compost IF that human avoids toxic chemicals in foods, drinks, household products, ingesting, injecting, etc You can tell if you’ve had toxic chemicals if your waste stinks. It doesn’t stink offensively when it’s all organic non processed and no toxic chemicals injected or ingested in your system. You’ll rarely get ill too.

You are dead right there. My son, a carpenter has lovingly transformed a removal van into a really cool tiny home but is being hounded by the Council despite having permission of the landowner to live there. You can't just buy a bit of land and bung a caravan etc on it to live in, not allowed. Perhaps some councils are more relaxed but certainly not ours. (Lincolnshire where there's plenty of land.)

One person living on 3 acres of land isn't sustainable, if you can even find the land and afford it in the first place. Then you need the practical skills and finances to build your cabin and off grid facilities. People could get together and pool their resources and skills to create mini communities, which would be cool. But then finding an acre of land that you can stick 3 or 4 dwellings on without the council ripping it down would be a challenge and a half. It's seems that at every step people are pushed into conformity. That conformity is increasingly to work all hours, sometimes making someone else rich, then to hand over 70-80% of your paltry wages to a landlord. And you're just treading water, getting nowhere. Allowing community projects would be a positive step for society and the environment. But one wonders whether what's good for society and the environment is high on the agenda of any government. Other than the post war Atlee government, I can't think of any other examples in the last 100 years that has believed in society over individualism.

I love the idea for my daughters, who pay ridiculous rents! I think the hardest bit if you are in England particularly is finding land and our ridiculously restrictive planning laws. It’s also not just young people. Older people are struggling too. I’m 61, and if I didn’t have a partner who paid off our mortgage I would be stuffed at the moment and struggling. Great house, though. I love the idea of tiny houses in a country so short of space

Amazing. Discovered your channel today in a morning, when was in our subway going to work, and now just watching watching;-) So relaxing. Nice environment. Great job, you have done! Beautiful small house, in a beautiful Sweden. I know your country many years, as I am often spending my vacations mostly between Stockholm and Visby, and I saw a lot of this kind of red swedish houses. Dream - house. Thanks for your video, this is very inspiring. Cheers from Canada.

I would make skirting around the bottom of the tiny house as it can prevent draft from coming under the house and making the floor cold. Also, skirting would prevent the snow and the moisture from getting under the house onto the chassis. It could get rusty over the time... If you want warmer floors, just get some skirting and you will notice the difference immediately, even if you do have well insulated floors. It will still be a difference.

Hi, at the end of the day you don’t need to much to live in. You just need somewhere to sleep somewhere to cook and a small bathroom for showering and toilet. You don’t have to have a four bedroom house to live in. I live in a three bedroom home, and I only use the lounge room The kitchen in the bathroom/laundry the rest of the house is really a waste of time. Unfortunately I have a disability I would’ve down sided along time ago
