Police say the man accused of murdering two North Texas convenience store clerks admitted to the killings and confessed he didn't give them time to comply with his demands. He allegedly did it for lottery tickets to get an apartment.

In this case, the area the stores were located in may not have had anything to do with it, this guy drove 80 - 100 miles from the city he lived in to commit these crimes, so he could have just stopped at stores with clerks that looked different than him. The story did say he drove about halfway back to where he’s from to cash out some of the scratch off tickets in between robberies.

Doesn't the lottery have a way to track tickets anyway? They know when they get delivered which tickets come out of which stack of scratchers. Thats how they know where the winners are sold to keep track of it and it helps prevent counterfeits. Even if he won a million dollars on one of those tickets, once he cashes it in theyre going to see it came from one of these stores where a murder occurred. What an idiot.

yeah, i worked at a gas station about 10 years ago. it's a dangerous and low paying job. anyway lottery tickets are tagged and registered. when you open a new stack, you have to scan it to get approved (has a serial number so it can be tracked). if you steal them in stacks, they already know when you come for winning tickets. it'll ring up as not verified (if the owner decides to freeze it) or they let you so they can arrest you later (requested by law enforcements).
