our landlord installed AC last summer and she told us we can save money by using the AC on heat mode during winter. I live in northern Canada where we get -28 C in the winter. the AC is also placed at the front of the apartment and barely even reaches my room to cool it. I would freeze to death when I can just turn on the damn heating in my room. Also most people I know here rarely turn on heating in their houses during the winter and it's freezing cold so you see them wear sweatpants and sweaters just to save a couple of bucks a year? I spend the winter in shirts and tank tops. not to mention not turning on the heat ever increases the chance of getting mold since the houses are made of wood... I never understood what is it they're trying to save up for. A house? They live in the most expensive neighborhood ever. What is it they're saving money for????
