Em some heroic horsemen, one Am courageous charioteer
through C battle-weary years gone by they G learned to face their fears
they Am fall now to their knees, to C be devoured by worms
the G victory conceded, on Am very unfair terms
verse 2 (Prov 20:17)
Em bread gained by deceit .. it Am may at first taste sweet
but a C mouth that’s filled with gravel, is G what will soon ensue
the Am brave man’s stealth reside .. C in the sole of his feet
G while the wise one wisdom from the Am world around accrue

when all C vanity has been proven wrong, the G spoils are yet to come
there are Am treasures yet unknown, we C understand but just a part
if we G train up a child in the ways of the lord, he Am will not then depart
