As a writer, this kind of sent shivers down my spine because while I haven't actually met the characters I've written about real life, there have been occasions where I stall on writing a character and create more and more ideas for their story and coming to a satisfying conclusion where they have to die by the end. But as a result of stalling, I've grown emotionally attached to that character. Recently, it hit me the strongest because the character I wrote about is basically the older brother I wish I always had. I wrote him up where he was caring and always supportive of his younger brother, who has always downplayed themselves because of their low self-esteem. At the end of the story, the older brother dies of a terminal illness (which was the main focus of the story and center idea of how the story came to be). Writing those final sentences and going into detail about his death and what happened after actually brought me to tears of several instances because I had grown to love this fictional character. But by that point, it was already done. It's interesting to see this concept of getting attached to the character you write about over time with a predetermined fate of death ready for them explored in such a unique way.

It’s just extremely metaphysical, I understand too, it would make people feel like their egos aren’t the one pulling the strings of their lives & actions. Which they don’t, in reality everything just is - no control of lack of control to be had.

When the movie was launched the trailer made it looks like a typical Will Ferrel shallow comedy. Turning off its intended audience and killed the hype.

This reminds me of Scumbag System, the protagonist reincarnated as one of the characters in the novel he trash talked but still reading it, and he becomes the antagonist in the novel where his role as an abusive master and will eventually fall and tortured by the protagonist but he has this "system" similar to gamelit that can help him get out from that situation with certain conditions.

Why not just end the story with him surviving and when that moment in time is over by some weeks just delete it and rewrite the original story, harold should be fine unless that generates a rip in the space time fabric making a paradox of some sorts, causing the whole existence to implode on itself staring a new big bang.

It's a strange film. On the surface, it is an outstanding character study, pondering the ramifications of facing one's death and how an ordinary person decides to challenge/embrace it. Underneath the hood, however, there are so many unanswered questions about the world of the story. Why can't she save him then rewrite her ending to preserve its integrity? Why doesn't she abuse her new found powers and end all the world's problem? Couldn't she make Harold a billionaire and have him split the money with her? Could she create any character or only those that really exist? The movie never states the limits of these stange events and it wasn't designed to do so since any probing would unearth holes in this well intentioned plot. At best. This movie can be seem as a fable, a tale told to explicitly bestow the virtues of living a good life rather than a slice-of-life account of the depicted events. If all else fails, let's say a wizard is to blame for everything, including everyone's lapse of judgment.
