Ten hag has had so much to deal with by himself that most managers in the top 6 don’t deal with by themselves. He didn’t have a DOF or technical director, had an interim CEO, he’s worked wonders with the tools at his disposal.

What is Gabby talking about? What is the point of playing a style of football without winning? Ten Hag is a pragmatic coach who adapted his style of play because he lacked the players. To have a particular style of football, you need time to coach it and players to buy into it and learn it. You cannot achieve it within a year or two because of ongoing changes like injuries, sales, loans, and players refusing to play. All of these factors can affect the style and system of play.

United is no chance of winning the Prem within the next three years. The money isn't there to bolster the squad sufficiently to go even close to achieving that. United is also restricted by PSR for past stupidity in the transfer market. A couple of Cups has pulled the wool over some supporters' eyes, but it hides how poor the quality of football has been. I first want to see United play a higher quality and more dominant type of football, which would be a pre requisite for challenging for a league title. I doubt ETH will achieve that.

No style of play is just lazy Punditry. He wants to play transitional football. He likes to switch the flanks and invert wingers. He likes a defensively sound CDM who can dictate. He wants unpredictable offensive patterns. He also wants this to come through a backline, who are good on the ball and can. Pass through the lines. Transitions are huge for him constantly looking to catch the other teams back line off guard, because the back 4 can move the ball quickly. He likes a high line, runners in behind and again unpredictable but rehearsed patterns in the forward positions. That's generally his style of play, if you want to summarise it. He hasn't had any sort of settled team whatsoever, to implement it tho. It's a complicated system that needs to be trained and learned , and learned again. I'm a nobody & I know this. These pundits are stealing a living. There's an argument to be made against him in that there's no plan to adapt this system. But... Who can prepare for an injury crisis that enormous? The reason nobody looks settled into a 'style' is because it's been virtually impossible to implement. It started to take shape again at the end of the season, when everyone was back training together and learning the system. Hence the better performances but more importantly, better results. My point is, take Talksport with a huge pinch of salt. It's not good analysis.

Erik Ten Hag whether you like it or not has won 2 pieces of silverware in his first 2 full seasons at United. I think the best way he and United will challenge, if they do, for the title is if they start properly from scratch by binning past players who cannot be relied on to take United forward and build around Fernandes, Mainoo, Hojlund and Diallo to name a few and that they start off very strong. Rashford is one of those that must be axed because he is part of the old cycle that needs replacing and he is unbefitting to represent United on and off the pitch

Arsenal won 4 in 7 years but were finishing mid, Arteta won the FA cup in his first season as a manager but there was still a rot. Those cups ended our 8 year drought, like utd recently ended their 6 year drought, but the rot still remained.The 4 FA cups was labeled as Wigan's cup and was told the only thing that matters for big clubs is playing CL and challenging/winning the PL and CL. We are now legit challenging and all we here is 'No trophy in 4 years' which is ironic. Wenger signing a new contract after the cup win was one of the worst decisions made by the club and as a result this Arsenal continued dropping down the table which resulted in rebuilds taking much longer. Utd fans right now are experiencing the buzz Arsenal fans with the FA cups, but are soon going to find this buzz will wear off when utd are not challenging to stop man city's dominance, but instead only settling for a top 4 finish. I'd bet my house Ten Haag doesn't last the full term of his contract because of this, even if he wins another domestic.
