That scene is not outlandish. He is not carrying the shark's weight. The other end of the sharp object on the rock, loaded by the shark's weight, gets all the shark's weight. Of course, the meg's weight along with the initial piercing from a fast and strong impact tore through the shark by its own weight. He just facilitated it. It's credible. The area where it pierced through the meg killed it at once!!
