I think it should also be noted that not only did Chris manage to walk from China to his home in Germany but the madman filmed and documented the entire thing as well! He deserves every bit of praise and more!

I've been in love with your story and journey since I was a toddler. I'm now moving across the world just like you for University. I've followed you my entire life. You've completed your journey, now it's my turn. You're an inspiration to all. Rest now.

Yo this is actually such an amazing and crazy thing to me!!! I can't believe you've watched this guy since so young. That's mind blowing! I've only just watched this one cos of Reddit but then I saw this guy started 16 years ago. Mad! Good luck on your travelling experiences yourself mate

当老雷说“I don’t know what to tell you “的时候,我也差点落泪了。一个人走在森林里,天高地广,“前不见古人,后不见来者。念天地之悠悠,读怆然而涕下”。老雷在塔上也终于哭了出来。到家的时候,老雷和雷爸爸的对话,只闻其声,不见其人,我也听不懂,但却十分动人。十六年,横穿欧亚,老雷这辈子已经值了

So many thoughts and feelings. Happy / sad. End of a journey. Melancholy about the ending of a journey and a lot of feelings / thoughts about a new beginning.. Don’t be sad about the completion, be happy about the amazing experiences you had. It’s a new exciting beginning!

Man, only half way through, gonna finish the rest after work. I started watching you many years ago. You are a big reason I set forth on many of my own journeys. My soul has evolved so much since I first found your videos. So much more stillness and peace now. Words can't be found at the end of these experiences. I think that's the way it should be. Stillness . . . Peace. 🤘❤🕑

I feel you, Chris. I cried with you on that tower. I felt all these complicated emotions in my own heart and I didn't even walk all the damn way from China with you, lol. I read your book so many years ago and watched the beard video as many have. Your journey became part of my life. When you continued from Ürümqi and then from the border of Kazakhstan I was immediately on board again, and have been ever since (although I keep being a few weeks late to the party 🙃). I have distinct memories of you looking confused at dinner or going crazy over the wrong Registan 😉 I remember being glad seeing you safe after that car accident, but also sad because you lost the Caboose. I remember watching you walk through deserts and storms, snow and the scorching sun. Alongside loud and crowded roads or through quiet forests in the rain. Just you and the caboose, sometimes followed by dogs (nice or not so nice) or interested kids (mostly nice). The little friends back in China even made you some flowers for your hair. I'm gonna miss all that and I can't begin to imagine what it must be like for you. Thank you, Chris, for every step on The Longest Way. And for taking us with you. Looking forward to hearing from you and reading your book, if you decide to write a follow-up :)

Omg. To see this video - and I know it was not on time, up to date is making me… I don’t know, the moment where you cry is very sentimental and I do understand, I mean a little bit. What was going inside of you.. But the craziest thing is the German welcome! Like you have been away for one or two days !? Oh Mann oh Mann … it was a pleasure to read your book , and it was also a pleasure to travel with you for such a long time…unbelievable! Congratulations, respect and peace !

Thanks Chris. It's also quite a strange journey from my side of the computer too. You've helped me learn Chinese, I've followed the videos and your blog on and off. At times in fascination, at times in empathy, and yes, at times in frustration (mainly at the bombastic rantings against car drivers and perhaps some other topics too...hahaha). It's an epic adventure and also a deeply personal human story and I thank you for sharing it. 赞

If you don't mind me asking: how do you fund such things? I am at a bit of a one way road at this point in my life and am seeking ways to find a new endevour, at least for some time. But I am afraid of the funding. I have savings, just worrying that they might last long enough and I am going to end up completely lost.

@@Mackwiss I am not sure if this is a bit of a cultural thing. In some parts of Germany people even when really enjoy a moment or their family are seeming to be comparatively cool or unfriendly compared to other nations. There are even differences within Germany itself. I am convinced his father is really happy and may be was a bit surprised. He would exoect him some weeks later?
