Front of the car has a lot of mass before the driver. The entire front of the car is a buffer before the driver. The back of an SUV is relatively unprotected. Insane. There are a large number of cars today that are ridiculously quick. I have spent quite a bit of time on race tracks and know what that kind of speed means, It's not just a number on a dial. Turning or stopping at speed is very different than at highway speed. Going that speed on a public highway at night you are unlikely to be able to turn or stop if you see an obstacle in your lane, no matter what your eyes and instincts tell you. So here's a 22 year old kid who had a racecar fast car with street tires flying through the night just looking for a place to die.

@Miata822 Жыл бұрын
@@fitnesspoint2006 I didn't believe it so looked it up. Yes, a Rav4 can reach its electronically limited top speed of 119mph. That would be a terrible idea in any small SUV, even on an empty Autobahn. But in the time that it takes a Rav4 to go from 0-60 several popular electric cars could be going well over 100. Above about 120 the air has a much stronger influence on how a car handles. My car, not the fast model, can easily reach its 170mph electronic speed limiter. I would never go that fast on a public road. At anything over 140 turning, braking and changes in road grade can feel dramatically different and it is easy for an untrained driver to lose control. today there are a number of cars that can exceed 200mph. Stability control gives drivers a false sense of security but can be almost worse than useless at that speed. Cars that can reach freeway speed from a stoplight in 2 seconds or less and exceed the Rav4's top speed withing 6 seconds are a terrifying prospect in the hands on an eighteen year old. These cars are starting to enter the affordable used car market.

Make punishments stronger..see how many ppl keep doing what they’re doing. Not talking about drugs, nobody should be charged for willingly ingesting a substance. Every time I hear a story like this where kids are killed I can't help but shed a tear. I can imagine the pain the parents feel and I pray I never have to bury 1 of my kids. I couldn't emotionally handle losing a child. I hope all parents grieving like this lady find some kind of closure and peace. Kids don't deserve to die or suffer from another persons choices.

Arrested 2 weeks after?! What happened to the 13 days before? He should have been arrested immediately! I don’t know the full details. This is absolutely ridiculous.
@blkft2 жыл бұрын
I agree, should've been immediate. But they had to do their investigation such as forensics and pulling the info from both cars computers (kinda like a black box). That way they have enough info to build a case and file charges. He probably was arrested the night of the crash on a DUI then bonded out. At minimum he'll get 10yrs for vehicular manslaughter and the family will go after him in a civil suit (bleed his AZZ dry!).

I’ve always had a passion for speed. 130+ on the interstate is an adrenaline rush you can’t easily match. But I stopped because I feared this would happen to some innocent family. I’m now building a track-only race car that isn’t even street legal. It will only be towed to events. No one deserves to get that call about a loved one. This guys has to pay what is owed.
