This happened 20 years ago with my neighbor who lives three doors down. One summer we started smelling something funky outside and the neighbors had no idea what it was but it smelled like it was coming from that house. Come to find out when the police did a wellness check that the elderly man who lived there was dead for a while still lying in his bed and his elderly sister who was suffering from dementia had no clue at all, poor lady. May they both rest in peace

I did a hardwood flooring job years ago where an elderly man died at the top of the stairs and had fallen from his master suit balcony to the living room floor below where he decomposed for almost 2 months. His dogs ate him to stay alive but they eventually died of thirst/starvation as well. Anyways, after professional clean up, there was still a lot of organic matter and blood gelled up between the planks. I ended up removing about a 10x10 section of flooring and lacing in new wood because it was so swelled up with body fluids. Definitely the craziest job I've ever been on. Edit: Some of you people commenting have no sense of nuance and/or context. I don't know the dudes entire story, I was just a contractor who received minimal information from one of his relatives, I'm not claiming his death was an act of a vengeful God or a result of karma. I simply shared a story that sort of aligned with the news story in the video! Stop acting like y'all know my beliefs based on 2 short paragraphs of a story that happened over a decade ago... Thanks 😊

If for some reason people still believe in God. Imagine those dogs in that house for what must have been months having to eat their master, looking out the windows, slowly becoming weaker and then dying themselves. No Angels nothing intervened nothing Shone it's light.

Adding god into it... the man was a lottery winner who right after he won he basically told his entire family to fuck off. He squandered away most of his money and died broke and so alone that no one thought to check in him for at least the 2 months he had been dead. So alone that his dogs died they way they did because their master was who he was. God works in mysterious ways eh? Lol BTW I dealt with one of his sisters who was handling the estate after he passed. The estate paid me to do the flooring job which needed to be done in order to sell the house. Beautiful beach house on Lake Michigan that went for like 2mil back in probably 2010ish. Still one of my highest paying jobs to date lol ended up refinishing the entire house AND guest houses flooring!

Yikes! What's wrong with people? I remember walking to school as a 5 year old with my friend, past the home of an elderly couple who would give us fresh green beans from their garden as a snack. Two days went by and we didn't see them, so we went up to the door and knocked. No one answered but the smell was really bad. When we got to the school, we told the Crossing Guard who was a Police Officer in our town. The couple was found dead in their home - one must have died and the other suffered a heart attack upon the discovery. At least they had people who cared.

@@Faithfullfertilitytv Good question. Since we'd see this couple every day, sitting in chairs at a table on their front lawn, where they had baskets of vegetables for sale, after seeing them outside on Monday, but not Tuesday or Wednesday, on Wednesday we knocked on the door, since we wanted to ask if we could have some string beans. Mailboxes weren't at the street like they are where I live now - they were either on the house itself, or a slot in the storm door, like ours was. Unless they had a really bad cold, the Mailman would have definitely noticed the foul smell. This was an old farmhouse that did not have air conditioning. The crossing guard/Police Officer was our neighbor, so it was natural for us to tell him what happened. I still like raw string beans to this day, and still grow them myself. My son liked taking them as snacks and now he grows them.😊

@@ScarletBrimstone I have a friend who was living in & remodeling a home in Miami in which a 93 years old woman died. The neighbors all came to my friend, one by one, and told him that the people who had been "taking care of" the lady who died had strung up sheets around the carport & were living under the sheets for the 6-10 days that the elderly woman was dead inside the house with all the windows closed & the doors locked. They knew she was there, but since her daughter lived in another part of Florida, they thought they could keep quiet about it, collect her check every month (the police never found her bank cards) & have all the drunken crack parties they wanted. The neighbors that were closest to the area of the house where her body was finally called police, because the smell was overwhelming & nobody had seen the poor lady outside feeding her cats. The crack heads had been feeding them. There was a heavy high pile carpet on the floor with an inch of padding underneath....and when the people came to clean the house & pulled out the carpet, her body had basically melted into the carpet, passed through the padding & left a permanent mark on the hardwood floor underneath, as well as the sub-floor. My friend said that the first time he went into the house (he was doing construction work), he had to back out, because the stench was so overpowering. He had to wait till the house was cleaned & properly sanitized before he could walk back in there. The lady 's daughter had originally wanted to just fix up the house & sell it... but when she saw the mark on the floor that her mother had left, she told my friend to just demolish it & she sold the land. My friend still has the before & after video of the floor.

This happened to our neighbor who lives just accross us. We didn’t know he was dead for 6 months! He was found dead in his room apparently due to heart attack. He was an old single man. No family. No friends. A very introvert guy. Even when he was still alive he never said Hi or Hello to anyone even if you greet him. And he would always go out alone anytime he wants. Probably to just eat out or keep himself entertained. He was such a loner. It was during Fall season when we noticed something’s off because when the leaves fell off the ground, nobody cleaned & he usually does every year. And so that time all the leaves piled up. And that’s when the neighbor beside his house called 911.

When I was a kid there was a stench in a basement parking area in a mall we used to go to. It was a horrible smell but we really never thought much of it. A few weeks after they found a rotting body apparently a rape victim who was murdered and stuffed in one of the vents. Terrible. It's true, the smell of something dead is distinct and very unpleasant to say the least.

You turn the air down to like 60.. Pour bleach all over the body.. Wrap it in a lot of layers of plastic then pour lye and ajax and those downy scent beads ( the ones you put in the washer) on that.. Then wrap again. I remember a guy killed his wife and lived with her body laying in the living room floor for 3 months because he killed her so of course he didnt call the police... But he had a heart attack and had to call 911 and crawled outside to wait for em but they still went in and saw. Sick bastard. And thats how he said he lived with her. My guess.. The neighbor said he was half the man who died age.. And he was 74. So he probably had a 40 year old roommate who just didnt wanna be homeless and he could now live there rent free. Smfh.. I never smelled any corpse in my life, but I watched a documentary on lonely deaths where specialized corpse cleaning crew goes inside a house or an apartment for the services. Cleaning crew said the fatter the person was before their deaths, the fat melts and spreads onto the floor carpet, matt or floorings and the cadaver odor and the stains stay in it forever unless it gets replaced by new floor...... It must be horrific to deal with this kind of odor and cleanings afterwards......

I am a CSI Detective in South Florida. I was on a scene where a man in his mid 50's was living with his mother in her condo. She passed away and for approximately 6 weeks, she laid decomposing in her bed. He had a wash rag and bowl of water on the night stand that he would use to bathe her and a vacuum next to the bed he used to suck up all the maggots. Like all decomps, the smell was horrendous. The M.E. stated that she died of natural causes and no criminal charges were ever filed against the son.

Of course at first we had to consider that HE might have killed her, but on a decomp, it's difficult to see any obvious signs of trauma. Then we had to consider that she might have died on her own, and he was just keeping her death a secret in an effort to continue to collect some kind of financial benefit (social security, retirement pension, etc.). Turns out he was just "slow" in the head and really loved his momma. He understood she was dead, he just didn't want to send her away. Pretty sad actually.

My friend was an HOA president one time for a very large Korean building with 80 units I think. He told me someone had passed away in their tub a year ago and for months people wondered why the hallway smelled. They did everything to find out why the hallway smelled so bad. They changed the carpet and cleaned the vents. Until one day. You could hear buzzing coming from behind a door. So loud and they checked mail opening of the door and hundreds of flies came pouring out. Apparently the flies kept reproducing on the corpse for months and started filling the apartment. I always got the creeps when I passed by that unit. It was such a popular story that unit never sold, since then. It sounded like a horror movie when my friend told me.

This isn’t as uncommon as it should be. It happened in the small town I grew up in too. There was a father and son that lived together in a run down old house. The son was probably around 40 years old and neither of them ever had a job or did much of anything that anyone could discern. They were both on some form of disability and various other social programs. Eventually their neighbor noticed that he hadn’t seen the father for an extended period of time so he reported they discovered that the dad had died months earlier and his son never said or did anything about it. He got into some trouble for collecting his deceased father’s disability and social security checks as I understand it. The city condemned and tore down the house and the son now lives in some kind of government housing and just continues doing what he’s always done…which is nothing.

@@cosmicmuffin322 Straight up that was it, I wasn't the only person at the station that day. I was suspicious but weird shit goes on every day & it wasn't the first time seeing people around Akoranga lurking in the scrub as during winter autumn a particular type of fungi is known in that area or was, but this was about the end of February & it was unexpected but it wasn't until the guy was caught i finally knew what had happened. I did not witness this, but I live in a housing complex, with individual houses, but they are small, with little landscaping between them. On the far side of complex, an elderly resident had gotten into his car and proceeded partway down the road - still in the complex. He apparently pulled to the curb, and was found deceased a couple hours later, behind the wheel, with the car still running. Heart attack. Thank Heaven he was not out on the main roads when it happened!

If the body was not tampered or moved in any way within the time of his death the young man will not face any life-changing charges. He may be charged for not properly reporting a deceased person but I'm sure the DA will drop all charges. It's natural causes, no one was hurt, no drugs, no theft. No prior criminal history, open-and-shut case dismissed

Seems like that dude living there with his dead body had some issues of his own. It’s just heartbreaking knowing that this man wasn’t given the proper care that he needed. Glad that justice was served though. Condolences to this man and his family. I couldn’t imagine how potent the smell was. Not only causing health hazards inside the home but throughout the neighborhood.

But does the roommate actually know the homeowner or just stumbled upon a free home if a dead homeowner. Still weird because of smell but as of now he didn’t kill him and the whole time didn’t report so that he can continue living there for free. Feel for the homeowner’s family learning about all of this

My mum (53) said back in the late 1970s they had an elderly widower neighbor down the road. Nice man. One spring they noted they hadn't seen him all winter. Mailman was the one who finally kicked opened his door after he realized the other mailmen had left piles upon piles of mail all winter and the man wouldn't answer the door. Well, turns out he was pretty much a blob of goo and bones when the mailman went in his house. Rodents had been at him, too. All winter. And no once noticed him gone until spring.

Kinda remind me of greek movie called "boy eating bird's food". He got evicted from his apartment. Then found his very old neighbor lifeless on the floor, but instead calling the cops, he stay the night sleeping on his bed and eating whatever left on the old man's pantry.

Yeap something like this happened in my old neighborhood. It was a pretty nice neighborhood but their is always that one person and it was a 50 year old dude who was a hoarder and he weighed about 500 pounds. One day I see a shit load of Cops, ambulances, fire trucks and a crane the guy was dead for over a month in his house but he was so big and they couldn't move through his house to get him out because he was a hoarder so they had to cut a hole in the top of his house and lift him out.

I don’t understand. If there’s been a dead body there for a month, the stench of decomposition would be absolutely unimaginable and unbearable. How could the “roommate” stand that? How was there not the stink of death? Forget that the body, not properly embalmed or anything a month after death would be next to a skeleton in its physical state..
