Folks, this is the very reason why I volunteered for Big Brothers, to help kids just like this one from becoming THIS. The boy I mentored couldn't look people in their eyes, he couldn't speak clearly. So I had him stand up tall and read from a book and project his voice to practice public speaking with me as the audience. He actually cried because it was so difficult for him, but I knew what I was doing was the right thing somehow. Because I never wanted that boy to end up like THIS.

This not an excuse for crime. The opportunities these kids in the u.s. have 80% of our kids in Africa don't have such opportunities, yet they don't commit these crimes. Poverty, lack of parenting is not an excuse. People came from orphanage homes and became successful, people was raise by single parent and still became some body good in society. It is just the issue of knowing where u from and where you want to go.

It’s so easy to get in trouble but so hard to get out of it. I wish these young men could stop and think before they go down this road. It’s a waste of your life. There is so much more to life outside the confines of those neighborhoods. Consider joining the military to get out of those environments. It provides pay, housing, retirement plan, free travel to different states and countries (military assignments of course), retirement plan, free medical and dental, etc. You will see that there is more to life than planning crimes every day and victimizing people in your community. Prayers for the families of the victims and perpetrators.

I feel bad. Because I feel like any of us would’ve done the same if we was in the same predicament. He wanted to live and I’m sure he was scared. If only he had left the first time he encountered Bryce shoot those random people…but then again I feel like at that point he wouldn’t have an option but to stay around since he witnessed everything. He would’ve probably been considered a liability if he had left and they would’ve killed him too. He was basically stuck and had to go with whatever Bryce put him through. He was young asf too which plays a big role. I don’t care what anyone says we would’ve done it too. He chose his fate. This is incredibly sad.

Was born in the 80s and lived in Louisville my entire life. Stories like this are happening all over our city. The crimes that use to be prevalent in a certain area have spread to all neighborhoods. I remember when school doors would stay open all school day. I remember the very day they started locking doors and asking for ID. I remember when disaster drills changed from natural weather disasters to active shooter disasters. I remember when school fights were rare, and when schools had activity nights where schools were filled with families playing games, and rooms filled with smiles and laughter. Look how far this city has spiraled. Crime rates soaring, divorce rates climbing, summers are filled with juveniles causing terror across the city. The parks aren't even safe anymore. Sign of the times, I suppose, disappointing and depressing indeed.

Sad those boys were failed by everyone. Maurice and Larry was definitely tossed to the wolves by their own mother. Their mother shouldn't be allowed to have anymore, she allowed her kids to run the streets all night, skip school, smoking weed and drinking alcohol. She even has pictures with maurice and Larry holding guns with blunts in their mouths. She allowed her kids to hang out with a grown man she was dating. Brice will get what he deserves for sureand he is definitely competent wnough for the death penalty but the mom needs to be prosecuted as well because its half her fault. If ahe would've been a mother to them boys and protected them like they should have they'd still be here today living their lives.
