+Dorthy Savage did taking calc really help with the math? Because that's where I struggle. I get like 4 wrong on the reading, 2 wrong on the grammar, and then I can't finish up the math sections. I'm not even bad at math; I've taken 2 community college math courses, yet the sat math just always seems too tricky (I haven't taken any kind of calc course yet).
@dorthysavage66607 жыл бұрын
Yeah cus you can use a derivative to find many things. It mostly helps rush through the graphing related problems. And usually in calc you have to know all the basic foundations of algebra(log,ln e^x.....) by heart to even finish a calc problem fast. And since the sat doesn't go past alg2. Calc kids most of the time do really well.... but not alot of juniors take calc. Usually the juniors who were always up one math level have just finished calc or already went over derivatives and have mastered the basic alg foundations to kill the math portion

word vomit. pretty much, if you have a paper due, your first step is to write anything and any everything that comes to your mind. it can be sloppy and unorganized but that's fine. after that, you'll see your ideas flowing like a river. then you extract the parts you like and the ones that make the most sense. those ideas will become your main points. example: if you have a paper on abortion, you'll write about its moral implications, social, economic, legal etc. that's just a good idea on getting started

Funny your confusion with convenient and appropriate, it's a sign that you speak fluent French or Spanish (conveniente in Spanish is appropriate)! When it comes to time management and workflow, I like the classic Getting Things Done. You'll benefit immensely If you can take this 3 habits out of it: 1. Have a reliable capturing system, so your mind doesn't need to hold ideas, just create them. 2. Have a "Waiting for" list, anything that needs to happen and is outside your control, must be written down. It gives you a great sense of control. 3. Organize your actions in contexts, for example, things you need to do on your PC, things you need to do outside, things you need to do in your phone. This way, batching is a lot easier. Sometimes I think going back to the basics is the best way!

@fijigoya12367 жыл бұрын

@jackwinterblade80887 жыл бұрын
um no. at least one all nighter. it doesn't matter if you prioritize everything, which is literally the case for almost everybody in harvard, you still might have to pull an all nighter
@alaynahanson25497 жыл бұрын
Late response here...but to all future readers of this comment thread: there is no benefit whatsoever to pulling all-nighters! Your brain functions much more poorly when it’s deprived of sleep, so any information you attempt to cram overnight is not going to be committed to memory. Even if you feel more accomplished after an all-nighter, you aren’t going to retain any of that knowledge. Reneau mentions in the video to “know when to stop,” and mental/physical fatigue is a solid indicator that you should call it quits. Of course, this is easier said than done for people who have other full time commitments outside of school, but the fact remains that cognitive functioning is nearly impossible without proper sleep. Take it from me as a P.T. grad student with intense lab/study hours, or look it up if you don’t believe me, lol. xx

If your a stem major then the classes are going to be intense and way harder than your HS ap classes..... but if your a business/arts/communications major then your classes are going to be easy af
@sk8tie7 жыл бұрын
Not true. I know a lot of people that are awesome at STEM but the thought of writing an essay gives them immense stress. It's just very different from each other
@jenjencurls6 жыл бұрын
Dorthy Savage I know someone who dropped out because they couldn’t stand writing essays... that’s an individual case, and I’m sure there were other reasons, but I know many people do not like writing papers. Psychology is one of the most intensive majors when it comes to writing. Yet people love talking trash about it, saying how easy it is and how people choose it because they cannot do anything else. I know people who say their engineering classes were very easy, while their art classes were challenging. Everyone learns differently. So whats easy for you, may be hard for others. What’s easy for others may be hard for you.
@jenjencurls6 жыл бұрын
How was your first year?
@outspokenyid5 жыл бұрын
Katie B. I agree...I transferred from a stem program to a business program, and I’m actually finding it more difficult, because business has more conceptual things you have to understand, whereas with science and math, a lot of the time if you are good at it you just have to practice it a lot, and you are almost guaranteed high marks.

Humans can do anything but since we make each other (by that I mean our interactions with others form our identity) we sometimes do things that can help us or sadly hurt us. Stress is normal but we need the relief and the key to optimized learning and time management is to release it at the appropriate places with the right mentality. “Burn out” is a thing and it is never good, that’s why sleep, healthy diet, and exercise are the 3 best things to start forming good habits. For someone like me, being American born raised from Latino parents not from this country, to be the first to go off to university was a huge moment. All their work and struggles paid off and in that moment of my acceptance was the greatest moment of my life. I had a fascinating major (Architecture) and I was ready to do all the academics but struggled with personal life issues. I let it overcome me which was foolish but somewhere in a parallel universe I graduated 2 months ago. Anything is possible, you just need a support system and positivity in your life and any moment can change for the better. I had to give things up but I tried to go overboard on a lot of things, but the experiences and knowledge will stay with me for the rest of my life, even though I didn’t get a piece of paper in the end. I don’t know what it is about female students, they always seem to be the most self-driven and wisest and form the best habits earlier on in their lives. The laugh and smiles and all the things that make them curious, it always relaxes me.

Junior public college time management, I took 12 to 15 classes each term for several terms, how 4 to 6 course credit classes and lots of extended learning adult education classes , then lots of online ed2go courses and Universalclass.com. One term I remember taking Italian cuisine 5 to 6 credit courses, a bartending course, a real estate course through remax, and a sound recording course. Plus several online courses like purchasing, how to deal with difficult people, logistics, business math and more. However I did a few PE classes each term, I pretty much slept in my car, I got up at 6 am out the door at 7am at school by 8 am and I was there until 9 pm each night normally, an hours drive home so home at 10pm then I would study until 2 am to 3 am sleep a few hours, get to school drink as much chilled Frappuccino as I can, then with jitters from caffeine I would fight to keep my eyes open for morning class, sleep a few hours until my next class unless I had one back to back, any classes I didn't get the studying done for the night before , I would study in my car or library , then try and find some time to sleep in the parking lot. I did most of my sleeping in my car in intervals of 30 minutes to an hour , if I was lucky I would have a 3 to 4 hour gap between a class and really get some good studying and sleep in. My social life usually was taking PE classes or some kind of extended learning non credit cultural class like a bartending course or tailoring course, art class , a comedy improv theater class, bowling, archery, golf , ect.
